2025 RAM 1500 Cylinder Misfire Problem

Lemberg Law is investigating reports of engine misfires and performance issues in the 2025 RAM 1500. Owners are reporting early and repeated problems with cylinder misfires, rough idling, engine hesitation, and power loss. These issues may pose a safety risk and lead to long-term engine damage.

Some drivers say the problem began within days of purchase. Many report that repairs such as software updates, ignition coil replacements, and spark plug changes offer only temporary relief. Others are told that no fix is available, even though the issue has been acknowledged by the manufacturer.

What’s the Problem?

The 2025 RAM 1500 appears to be suffering from widespread engine misfire problems. Many vehicles show check engine lights and diagnostic codes such as P0300, which indicates multiple or random misfires. Drivers report rough starts, poor engine performance, and difficulty accelerating.

Common issues include:

  • Check engine light with misfire codes
  • Engine shaking or vibrating at idle
  • Hesitation during acceleration
  • Stalling or rough starts, especially in cold weather
  • Multiple repair attempts with no permanent fix

What Owners Are Saying

These direct quotes from real complaints submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highlight the severity and frequency of the misfire issue:

“I’ve owned the 2025 Ram 1500 with the 3.6L 24VVT eTorque engine since…. Shortly after purchasing the truck the check engine light came on and after checking it with my OBD 2 scanner, a P0300 code Random/multiple cylinder misfire was detected. This problem has been going on for over 4 months…”

Multiple cylinder misfire, code has popped up multiple times. Already had fuel sensor replaced one month after purchase.”

“My check engine light came on after 200 miles of owning my vehicle… Code scanner revealed it is several misfire codes. Ram has acknowledged the issue but doesn’t have a fix almost 6 months later. I call the dealer monthly and they always say there is no fix.”

“Started the vehicle at 280 miles and the check engine light started flashing and engine running rough, sounding rough and stalling out… I was told it’s Multiple Cylinder Misfire codes and that it’s a known issue with these engines/models, that it will continue to happen intermittently on cold starts.”

What Are Dealerships Saying?

Many vehicle owners report that dealerships are aware of the issue but have no permanent solution. Some dealers apply software updates or replace coils, but the problem often comes back. Others tell drivers that the issue cannot be reproduced or that the vehicle is operating within normal parameters.

In some cases, owners are advised to continue driving the vehicle despite ongoing misfires. This may put both drivers and passengers at risk, especially if the engine hesitates or loses power in traffic.

TSB: Cylinder Misfire & Disconnected Purge Line

In August 2025, Stellantis issued TSB 09-025-25 addressing misfire issues in certain 2025 RAM 1500 vehicles equipped with the 3.0L I6 Hurricane HO Twin Turbo engine. The bulletin identifies a defect in the purge line connection, which may lead to engine performance problems.

According to the TSB, affected vehicles may trigger the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):

  • P0300-00: Multiple Cylinder Misfire
  • P0171-00: System Too Lean Bank 1
  • P0174-00: Fuel System 2/1 Lean

In addition to check engine lights, customers may experience:

  • Rough engine operation
  • A hissing noise from the engine compartment
  • Failure to start
