2025-2026 Toyota Camry Seat Problem Investigation
Class Action Investigation

Lemberg Law is launching a class action investigation into the driver seat in 2025 and 2026 Toyota Camry vehicles. Owners report popping, shifting, and instability in the seat back and lumbar area during normal driving conditions, creating discomfort and a potential safety distraction.
I’m Sergei Lemberg, a consumer protection attorney who has spent more than two decades representing vehicle owners in lemon law and defect cases. This one came from our data analyst, who flagged an unusual spike in seat complaints for the Camry. Seat complaints are not common. Engines, transmissions, electronics are what we typically see.
So I dug in. I reviewed owner complaints filed with NHTSA and online owner forums to put together a picture of this issue.
What’s the Problem with the Toyota Camry Driver Seat?
On 2025 and 2026 Toyota Camry vehicles, the driver seat exhibits abnormal movement, popping sensations, and instability in the seat back and lumbar support area during normal driving. Owners describe the feeling as looseness in internal seat components, a physical shifting sensation, or something like being kicked from behind.
Owners report the same symptoms:
- Popping or crunching sounds from the driver seat
- Physical shifting or instability in the seat back and lumbar area
- Sensation worsens when accelerating, braking, or going over bumps
- Symptoms more frequent in warmer weather
- Issue present from early in ownership, sometimes from day of delivery
- Repairs attempted by dealers have not resolved the problem
Which Vehicles Are Involved?
Based on owner complaints filed with NHTSA and online owner forums, this investigation currently focuses on:
- 2025 Toyota Camry (all trims)
- 2026 Toyota Camry (all trims)
What are Owners Experiencing?
Here is what Camry owners are saying:
“The seat doesn’t fully lock in and will shift while driving.”
“Toyota Camry driver seat issue. popping noise, crunching sounds, and a physical shifting sensation in the mid-back and shoulder areas.”
“I am reporting an issue with the driver seat in my 2026 Toyota Camry Le purchased in January of 2026 The drivers seat exhibits abnormal movement, shifting, instability, and popping sensations in the seatback area during normal driving conditions such as stopping or getting in and out of car. It feels like the seat will fold in. The issue feels like looseness or movement of internal seat components may create a potential safety concern while operating the vehicle I have not yet brought the vehicle to a Toyota dealership for inspection. However after researching online owner forums and discussions, I found multiple reports from other Toyota Camry owners describing similar driver seat problems, suggesting this may not be an isolated incident. The ongoing seat movement negatively affects driver safety potentially. Owners in those forums have not reported a satisfactory fix or resolution in many cases.”
Is There a TSB or Recall?
At this time, there is no formal safety recall covering the driver seat defect in the 2025 and 2026 Toyota Camry.
Toyota has not issued a public technical service bulletin or recall addressing this issue. Owners are relying on dealer visits and internal Toyota technical assistance cases to seek resolution, with mixed results. Several owners report that repairs were attempted and failed, and that dealers told them they could not duplicate the issue and would not investigate further.
