2026 Subaru Uncharted Headlights Shaking & Bouncing
Class Action Investigation
Lemberg Law is launching a class action investigation into a headlight stability defect affecting 2026 Subaru Uncharted vehicles. Owners report the LED headlight assemblies shake and bounce over normal road surfaces at night, creating a strobing effect that distracts the driver, reduces visibility, and may confuse oncoming traffic.

In all that time, I have seen a lot of vehicle defects. Headlight issues come up from time to time. But a headlight assembly that visibly shakes over normal road surfaces and creates a strobing effect visible to the driver and oncoming traffic is something I rarely see. This one is unusual.
So I pulled the complaints. Same issue, described the same way, by owner after owner. I’ve included my research and source material below.
What’s the Problem with the Subaru Uncharted Headlights?
On 2026 Subaru Uncharted vehicles, the LED headlight assemblies appear to be insufficiently secured to the vehicle structure. Because modern LED projector headlights have a sharp beam cutoff, even small movements create a pronounced strobing or flickering effect that is highly noticeable to the driver and to oncoming traffic. The movement can even be reproduced by hand while the vehicle is stationary.
Owners report the same symptoms:
- Headlights visibly bounce and shake over normal road surfaces
- Strobing or flickering effect visible on the road, signs, and other vehicles
- Oncoming drivers flash their lights in response to the apparent flickering
- Assembly can be manually moved by pressing on the bumper or headlight area
- Issue present from day of purchase, not caused by damage
- Dealerships have confirmed the issue but have no repair available
- Condition worsens on uneven surfaces, dirt roads, and during braking
Which Vehicles Are Involved?
Based on owner complaints filed with NHTSA and online owner forums, this investigation currently focuses on:
- 2026 Subaru Uncharted (all trims)
We have also seen a smaller number of similar complaints filed for the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker and Subaru Solterra.
What are Owners Experiencing?
Here are a few complaints from Tacoma owners I came across in my research:
“While driving at night, the headlights seem like they bouncing with each slight bump on the road. They aren’t staying properly and give me headaches. I cannot drive at night now.”
“When the headlights are on at night, any bump or movement of the vehicle over rough surfaces causes the headlights to visibly shake. It is especially noticeable when the low beams are on. Even the reflection in vehicles or signs, you can see the lights shake. It caused quite a distraction when trying to drive. Dealer states this is normal and all other variants of this car do the same. I have never had a car that had headlights shake like this.”
“When going over a bump or anything that makes the car bounce (however slight) causes the light beam to oscillate which is not only distracting but makes it hard to see things at night consistently.”
Is There a TSB or Recall?
At this time, there is no recall or service bulletins covering the headlight stability defect in the 2026 Subaru Uncharted.
Subaru has not issued a public technical service bulletin or recall addressing this issue. Dealerships have acknowledged the problem to owners but have no repair to offer. Owners are being told to wait with no timeline for a fix, while continuing to drive a vehicle with a known nighttime visibility and distraction risk.
What Can You Do?

- Document the issue with video if you can do so safely, ideally with the help of another person, showing the beam movement.
- Save all repair orders and service invoices, including any dealer acknowledgment of the issue.
- File a complaint with NHTSA at www.nhtsa.gov.
