Class Action Investigation

2025 Chevy Traverse

Lemberg Law is investigating reports of transmission issues in the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. Owners are experiencing leaks, hard shifting, and complete transmission failure, often within the first few thousand miles. Some vehicles become undrivable, requiring towing and major repairs that are frequently delayed due to parts shortages.

What’s the Problem with the 2025 Traverse Transmission?

Owners of the 2025 Chevy Traverse are reporting early and severe transmission problems. These include fluid leaks, gear slipping, hesitation when accelerating, and total transmission failure. Some drivers say their vehicles stalled in traffic or failed to move at all. Others report that their cars had to be towed within weeks of purchase.

Common symptoms include:

  • Transmission fluid leaking onto the ground
  • Jerking or hard shifting between gears
  • Failure to accelerate or maintain speed
  • Sudden stalling while driving
  • Warning lights or error messages related to the transmission
  • Complete transmission failure requiring replacement

What Owners Are Saying

Here are real complaints from Traverse owners:

  • “Transmission leak. Car towed to dealer on 5/20/2024. Part is on backorder. No ETA.”
  • “Brand new Traverse with 3,600 miles on it started slipping in and out of gear.”
  • “Driving on the highway at 70 mph, the car jolted and showed ‘Transmission needs service.’”
  • “Stalled in traffic. Would not shift into gear. Dealer said transmission needs to be replaced.”
  • “Transmission fluid all over the driveway. Vehicle had to be towed. Dealer confirmed known issue.”

Repair Challenges and Dealership Handling

Many Traverse owners report that dealers are aware of the issue but are unable to complete repairs quickly due to backordered parts. Some are told there is no estimated timeline for when their vehicles will be fixed. A few are offered loaners or rentals, but others are left without transportation while still paying for a new car.

Service Bulletin

In January 2025, GM issued a bulletin replacing PIP6025, confirming that some 2025 Chevy Traverse vehicles may leak transmission fluid due to loose pump bolts. The defect affects transmissions built between Julian dates 24160 and 24311.

Technicians are instructed to replace all 19 bolts if the vehicle shows signs of leaking and the transmission falls within the affected date range. GM also notes that some replacement transmissions may have the same issue unless marked with a yellow dot.

No formal recall has been announced.
