Who are we? We are Lemberg Law, a Consumer Law Firm

We’ve helped more than 15,000 consumers stop harassment and recover money from debt collectors. Harassed? Abused? Misled by a collector? Call our Helpline today! There is no charge unless we win.

Understanding Your Debt Collection Rights

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

But here’s the rub: If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. These laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

If your FDCPA rights have been violated, you have every right to take the debt collection agency . The law states that the debt collection agency must cover you up to $1,000, in addition to your court costs and lawyer fees.

You may have a case, if…

  • You are receiving multiple calls per week from third party collection agencies.
  • You are receiving early morning or late night calls from debt collectors
  • You are receiving calls at work from a debt collection agency
  • Debt collectors are calling your family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers
  • Collectors are threatening you with violence, lawsuit, or arrest
  • A debt collector attempts to collect more than you owe
  • You are being threatened with negative credit reporting
  • A debt collector attempts to intimidate you
  • Criminal accusations are being made towards you
  • Use of obscene language during an attempt to collect
  • Automated robocalls are being made to your phone in an attempt to collect

What Our Clients are Saying

“I need to personally thank you and everyone I dealt with at your company for helping to prevent harassment by more than one group service. These agencies were calling my buddy five, six, seven, and even eight times each day, using different names and different telephone numbers. The calls lasted even after my friend told them I did not live there and told them to stop calling him. They would call night and day, Saturdays and Sundays, until I called Lemberg Law.”

“A belated thanks for your company. I still get an occasional call but when I ask them to not they stop. Hopefully sometime in the future all of the collection agencies will be emptied. The peace from the constant calls is refreshing.”

“I have to admit, I was not sure of y’all initially but you proved me wrong. You not only got the calls to stop but you have the company to dismiss the accounts once and for all! Thank you so much! It had been more than I anticipated.”

I had negotiated a settlement with Cooling and Winter and was told by a Mrs. King that my settlement agreed would be emailed to me. After 24 hours, no agreement settlement was received. Called Mrs. King again and was informed it never reached her office and to resend it marked “2nd Request” which I did. 72 hours later no agreement. Called Mrs. King back only to go to her voicemail stating she’ll reply back before the end of the day. 48 hours later, no return call. I’m trying to settle without having to go to court , have had the agreed upon amount in my checking account having authorized Automatic Withdrawal, yet she seems to avoid any further communications with me about our agreement. Beginning to feel like this company is a scam. Court date is Tuesday so I guess I’ll produce my emails concerning my settlement agreement and their lack of following up on their agreement.
