2020 Infiniti QX60 Problems and Top Issues – Is Your Car A Lemon?

Autoglass and electrical system issues among the top complaints received by the NHTSA from vehicle owners

Updated on Author: Brian Jones

Among premium SUVs, the 2020 Infiniti QX60 appears to offer everything that customers need to enjoy the ride. The automaker claims that “innovation runs in the family,” but customers seem to be struggling with some basic functions, including the visibility and electrical system.

Problems with the Autoglass

When it comes to seeing out of a vehicle, the auto glass is essential for optimal visibility. However, this glass has other purposes, such as providing a reliable sunroof.

The QX60 has defective auto glass, as seen in this NHTSA review. “Sunroof exploded while driving on Highway 175 heading toward Nacogdoches, TX. We heard a loud pop almost like a tire blowing out. We get out of the rental car to check on the tires and found nothing. We got back in and started driving. When we heard a gush of wind. We looked up and noticed the car had a sunroof so we moved the cover back and glass started to fly into the car. Nothing hit the glass it just exploded out of nowhere.”

This basic function isn’t the only one that seems to be malfunctioning. Service Bulletin #ITB19-024 says that DTC B00A0-00 can be stored in conjunction with an error message signifying that the air bag system isn’t working. It turns out that the Occupant Classification System (OCS) control unit isn’t functioning, so passengers aren’t being detected properly. This defect can prevent the air bag from deploying, even if someone is sitting in the passenger seat. Whether there is glass falling on passengers or the air bag falls to protect them, this is the type of “innovation” that customers don’t want in the family.

Electrical System Problems

With a luxury vehicle, it’s expected that everything included will be high-end and properly functioning. However, owners continue to complain about the lack of features and poor function.

Here is one Edmunds review worth reading. “1. The retracting side mirrors do not have an automatic setting which means you need to do it manually every time you’re parking which is a pain. 2. I would put the side mirrors warning light in the mirror so you don’t have to break eye contact. 3. It still has the old technology so no Apple or Android car play.”

Beyond these problems, there are larger issues occurring. Service Bulletin #ITB19-036 states that the push button ignition and door request switches might become inoperative. With this fault, the following issues could occur: door won’t lock or unlock or the engine will not start with the ignition switch. To repair this problem, Infiniti must actually replace the BCM. In the meantime, owners could get stuck in their vehicle and not even be able to start the engine. Does this sound like something people should be paying extra for? At this point, it might be better to go with the cheaper Nissan counterpart and save some cash. Infiniti can keep its “innovations” for the next family of suckers.

Hello, just wanted to know how to fix: I have my 2020 car for about 3 yrs now and it’s almost at 30K. My problem is when you press on the gas pedal, the rpm odometer is delayed? I been noticing it for the last 3 months, no check engine lights.

    I leased a 2020 Qx60. Nothing but problems.
    1. In winter, windows don’t work. If you lower the window for any reason, it won’t come back up. Brought it to the dealer twice and they said more WD40. Its a traction issue.
    2. Odometer – it seems like the odometer runs faster than normal. During the 2 years of COVID, we didn’t drive even 10% of what we normally drive but Infiniti shows extra 10k miles on the odometer. Rigged?
    3. Service Notification: Oil Change reminders don’t work. Infiniti says that cannot be relied upon. But, then a notification for Low Oil Pressure comes on. Now Infiniti has to change the engine. Good Luck, Infiniti.
