2024-2026 Lexus GX & TX Hood Fluttering / Shaking Problem
Class Action Investigation

Lemberg Law is launching a class action investigation into a hood flutter defect affecting 2024, 2025, and 2026 Lexus GX and TX vehicles. Owners report the hood shaking and fluttering violently at highway speeds, in some cases triggering the hood safety latch alarm.
I’m Sergei Lemberg, a consumer protection attorney who has spent more than two decades representing vehicle owners in lemon law and defect cases. Hood flutter is not something we see every day, but it is something we have dealt with before. Our firm was involved in Damocles v. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., which covered a similar hood flutter issue in Mitsubishi Outlanders. When complaints started coming in for the Lexus GX and TX, we took note.
So I dug in. I’ve included my research and source material below.
What’s the Problem with the Lexus GX and TX Hood?
On recent model year Lexus GX and TX vehicles, the hood shakes and flutters at highway speeds. The flutter is not subtle, and in some cases the hood safety latch alarm triggers while driving. A hood that flutters at speed can distract the driver and obstruct forward visibility, and a triggered latch alarm raises concern that the hood could fly open while the vehicle is moving.
Owners report similar symptoms:
- Hood shaking and fluttering at highway speeds, worsening as speed increases
- Hood safety latch alarm triggering during highway driving
- Issue present from early in ownership, sometimes noticed immediately upon leaving the dealership
- Dealers acknowledging the problem but having no permanent repair available
- Flutter returning after dealer repairs were performed
Which Vehicles Are Involved?
Based on owner complaints, this investigation currently focuses on:
- 2024, 2025, 2026 Lexus GX
- 2024, 2025, 2026 Lexus TX
Complaints from both GX and TX owners across multiple model years suggest the issue extends well beyond the 2024 GX 550 vehicles covered by Lexus’s service bulletin.
What Are Owners Experiencing?
Here is what owners are saying:
“Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I noticed significant hood flutter at 60-70 MPH. This is visually distracting and poses a safety concern while driving. Despite three separate repair attempts at the dealership in the past two months the defect has not been resolved. Lexus corporate has since informed me that nothing further can be done to correct the issue. I am aware that this is a known issue across the Lexus TX lineup and that a related Technical Service Bulletin (L-SB-0013-25) was issued in February 2025 for the GX 550, which shares the same hood construction.”
“The hood panel flutters at speeds above 50 mph. The flutter/flex is very noticeable and concerning. The flutter becomes more noticeable as speed increases.”
“The contact owns a 2025 Lexus GX 550. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the hood of the vehicle was fluttering up and down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,865.”
“Lexus TX hood flutters at highway speeds, Dealers acknowledging the issue and confirming no repairs available. Created a case with Lexus corporate office, so far no resolution after submitting vehicle report from dealer visits. This issue is similar to GX hood issue, but Lexus is not looking into this and acting like we are not aware of this and no one informed.”
Technical Service Bulletin
In February 2025, Lexus issued Technical Service Bulletin L-SB-0013-25, acknowledging that some 2024 GX 550 vehicles may exhibit abnormal hood fluttering and vibration while driving 25 mph or higher. The bulletin attributes the issue to separation of the mastic between the outer hood panel and the hood brace.
The repair involves removing the hood, installing urethane foam blocks at 15 locations inside the hood structure, injecting NVH dampening material, and allowing the assembly to cure for 24 hours before reinstallation. The repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty for 48 months or 50,000 miles.
The bulletin was submitted to NHTSA on March 24, 2025, but no formal recall has been issued. It applies only to 2024 GX 550 vehicles and has not been updated to cover 2025 or 2026 GX models. No equivalent bulletin has been issued for the TX at any model year, despite owner and dealer reports of the same condition.
Is There a Recall?
At this time, there is no formal safety recall covering the hood flutter defect in the Lexus GX or TX.
Lexus has addressed the 2024 GX issue through TSB L-SB-0013-25, which covers the repair under warranty. However, the TSB is not a recall. Owners are not automatically notified. TX owners have no equivalent bulletin or established repair procedure. TX owners also report repeated unsuccessful repair attempts, or dealers acknowledging the issue with no repair available.
What Can You Do?
If you own a 2024, 2025, or 2026 Lexus GX or TX and have experienced hood flutter at highway speeds, here are the steps to take:
- Document the issue with dates, mileage, and conditions, including the speed at which the flutter occurs.
- If you can do so safely with the help of another person, capture video of the hood movement.
- Save all repair orders and service invoices, including any documentation of the TSB repair being performed.
- Ask your dealer whether TSB L-SB-0013-25 has been applied to your vehicle. If you own a TX, ask whether Lexus has any guidance available for your model.
- File a complaint using NHTSA’s online safety complaint form.
