Sergei Lemberg “Most Active” Consumer Attorney, Says WebRecon

WebRecon, an online publication for the debt collection industry, tagged Sergei Lemberg as one of the “most active” consumer attorneys of 2019.

In its year-end report, WebRecon identified Lemberg in its top ten list of most active consumer attorneys of the year. Representing 399 consumers, Lemberg was ranked second on the list.

WebRecon is a litigation data mining company that alerts the debt collection industry to consumers that frequently file Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) lawsuits. The result is that debt collection agencies may perform what’s called “litigious consumer scrubs,” a process whereby they avoid interacting with consumers who may understand and assert their rights under the FDCPA.

WebRecon also reported that 8,315 FDCPA lawsuits were filed in 2019, an almost eight percent decrease from 2018. In addition, there were 4,938 Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) lawsuits filed in 2019, an increase of almost nine percent over 2018. Finally, there were 3,267 Telephone Consumer Reporting Act (TCPA) lawsuits filed, a decreases of 14 percent from 2018.
