Lemberg Law is investigating reports of serious brake issues in the 2025 GMC Acadia. Drivers across the country say their new SUVs are lighting up with warning messages, losing braking power, and sitting at dealerships for weeks due to backordered master cylinder parts.
What’s the Issue?
Owners of the 2025 GMC Acadia, including the Denali and Elevation trims, are reporting brake problems within days or weeks of purchasing their vehicle. In many cases, warning lights suddenly appear on the dashboard, followed by a noticeable loss of brake performance or complete failure.
The issue appears to stem from a faulty brake master cylinder. This component is responsible for creating the hydraulic pressure needed to stop the vehicle. When it fails, drivers may experience:
A soft or pulsing brake pedal
Difficulty stopping or longer stopping distances
Warning lights for ESC, ABS, traction control, and brake system
Disabled features like cruise control and forward collision assist
Loss of braking consistency or braking power
Some service technicians have warned that these vehicles are not safe to drive. One customer was told the brakes could fail at any moment.

What Acadia Owners Are Saying
Here are some real reports from 2025 GMC Acadia drivers:
“After just one week, the dash lit up with ABS, traction control, and ESC warnings. The dealership said the brake master cylinder had to be replaced, but the part was backordered.”
“I’ve had my Denali for only 336 miles. The tech told me it wasn’t safe to drive. My husband called another dealership and they said this issue is happening in Yukons, Terrains, and Sierras too.”
“The brakes failed while I was driving with my three kids. The pedal barely worked and the car felt like it was trying to accelerate while braking. The dealership confirmed it was the master cylinder.”
“The master cylinder failed at 4,900 miles. My vehicle has been at the dealership for more than a month.”
“Six warning lights came on. No brakes. The dealer cannot fix it because the parts are not available.”
Repair Delays
To make matters worse, owners say the needed repairs are being delayed due to part shortages. In some cases, vehicles are sitting at dealerships for weeks with no estimated repair date.
Here’s what drivers report:
Replacement master cylinders, seals, and reservoirs are on backorder
Some dealerships cannot provide a timeline for the repair
A few dealers have admitted this problem affects other GMC vehicles
Loaner cars are sometimes provided, but not always
