What is Allied Collection Services – ACSI?

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, Allied Collection Services, Inc. (ACSI) touts its own consumer debt program, “Back on Track,” as replacing collectors using a web interface and enabling the consumer to pay their debt. Basically, the agency sends the customer a collection letter and gives them 60 days to select their payment and due date, and guarantees no collection calls or credit bureau reports. If the consumer does not comply, Allied Collection Services is ready to bring suit through a network of lawyers.

Allied Collection Services collects both consumer and business accounts. In the consumer realm, the agency specializes in health care and financial services debt. There’s another debt collection agency with the exact same name based from Indiana, so consumers need to make certain to confirm which Allied Collection Services they are handling.

Understanding Your Debt Collection Rights

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

But here’s the rub: If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. These laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

These people are calling me from (877) 714-2432 and harassing me. I filed for bankruptcy 3 years ago. Rude and complete idiots. I called my attorney and reported them to the better business bureau and other agencies.

Allied collections called and told me to call them back immediately because there had been a criminal complaint filed against me. I am not ignorant and know that there is no such thing for owing money on a collection. Are they allowed by law to lie like that? Is that legal?
