Engine
- Engine won’t start: Drivers are acknowledging premature failure, leading to an engine that won’t start. One owner goes as far as explaining how the vehicle has an empty fuel tank within an hour of filling, with no sign of leakage, which seems to be a strange mystery.
- Engine knock: One driver experienced a loud knocking from under the hood. The knocking sound happened three times and the accelerator pedal wouldn’t make the Atlas move. During these times, there were no warning lights to indicate any problem, plus the owner was notified of a recall that may have something to do with this issue.

Electrical System
- Failed instrument cluster: While driving the 2024 Atlas, some owners report that the instrument cluster goes black. After restarting the vehicle, the cluster will often come back on.
- Defective infotainment screen: Just as with the instrument cluster, drivers have reported losing the display on the infotainment screen. Restarting the engine seems to temporarily resolve the problem.
- Alarm sounding while driving: Atlas models can have the alarm set off while driving down the road because of an electrical malfunction. When this happens, it’s distracting and could lead to an accident.
- Loss of navigation: In some Atlas vehicles, the navigation stops working entirely. Other people have complained that the defective system shows them in the wrong location or doesn’t recognize where they want to go.
Structure
- Defective seat plastic trim: Plastic trim attached at the back passenger seats can cause the seat belts to get tangled up in the tract. When it gets caught, occupants aren’t getting the protection needed.
- Excessive wind noise: Customers have complained about a whistling noise that gets worse as speeds increase. They’ve been unable to discover where the noise is coming from, but it continues to annoy occupants and cause issues when having a conversation.
- Back seat rattle: Under the bench seat in the rear is a rattling noise, creating a distraction while driving. One driver says that the dealership diagnosed it as a faulty frame, which is a serious concern for a new vehicle. The technicians are installing a new frame for the brand-new vehicle.
