According to Sergei Lemberg, managing partner of Lemberg Law, this data highlights the problem of unwanted phone calls. “Consumers should not be hounded by robocalls and other unwanted calls,” he said. Referencing 2 million complaints logged by the FTC over the course of 100 days, he added, “For every complaint lodged, there are probably a thousand that never get reported.”
Lemberg noted that the Telephone Consumer Protection Act provides those who are being bothered by cell phone robocalls with an avenue of redress, namely to sue in federal court. “Folks can and should stand up for their rights, and we’re committed to helping them do so,” Lemberg said.
Lemberg urges consumers who have robocall or DNC complaints to also file a complaint with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ “When people make their voices heard, it can spur the government to take action,” he concluded.
