Hillcrest Davidson & Associates Calling You?

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

But here’s the rub: If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. These laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

A representative who identified himself as Jose ext. 2303 called my cell at 2:19pm Central on 9/23/20 from a phone number of 214-453-2915. The representative became very pushy when I told him I would settle the account on October 2nd for a settlement amount of roughly $1,100 & a deletion letter. After becoming very rude I told him the hard sell approach doesn’t work with me & I would make it a point to pay another representative to ensure he doesn’t get the commission. He proceeded to tell me he’d be moving the account into his name & whenever I call in I’d have to speak with him. He then terminated the call. I called a second time at 2:25pm and he answered & hung up on me again. I called a 3rd time at 2:27pm spoke to a representative who identified herself as Alicia. I requested she note my account that the last representative was very rude & that I’d like to make a formal complaint. I was informed Juan was a manager there and that she didn’t want to “get in trouble”. I requested to be transferred to the Human Resources department & she agreed. I was then transferred to Juan again and from there proceeded to tell me unless I’m ready to make a payment there was “nothing to talk about”. He proceeded to hang up on me for the 3rd time. I called a fourth time I spoke with a male representative who I asked to transfer me to the customer service department. The representative put me on hold, and Juan again got on the call. He told me human resources doesn’t speak with anyone externally & that he handles all the complaints for the entire company. He told me there was no way to file a formal complaint but to tell him what happened. To say the least this was very unprofessional. I feel the way he screamed my social security number & date of birth was very concerning. I feel that I was denied the opportunity to file a proper complaint. I feel I was verbally abused on this phone call while I was at work. I’m concerned that other employees refused to transfer me to any other employee. I understand collections is tough but the fact that a manager is allowed to conduct himself this way on a call is alarming. Obviously there is a lack of training, I only gave him 2 objections before his melt down. His rebuttal to requesting a call back on October 2nd was “Why?”. I suggest he role play more & also someone play the call back for him that generally helps. I hope this reaches someone internally who will hold him accountable. These are challenging times in our country, you guys are calling people with real problems. We don’t need to be berated by a telephone tough guy on top of everything else. Hope you guys handle this internally because it’s the right thing. But if not do it because this guy is not very good at his job, he should be in a training class not managing people.

I had a lady named Simone say she would not speak to me unless I confirmed by SSN ! I politely said I will confirm my address or phone number but I will not confirm my SSN over the phone that is kind of standard ESPECIALLY if I have NO idea who this business is and what their claiming… She threatened me with court , said she has me on a recorded line, which needs to be disclosed immediately or PRIOR to any conversation at all if this is a legit law firm. she then said something cocky like “I’ll look forward to seeing you in court” and hung up on me. I called the number back again, a man answered but just a “Hello” again (same thing the first time) I got on with Simone again and said I’m trying to figure out what this is about, she yelled at me about not confirming my SSN. I said Simone, I am now recording this call for my protection anddddd ——- hung up on me AGAIN. I called back one more time and asked to speak with her, when she answered this time I said “Simone, you need to grow up” she started speaking but I figured I’d repay her for her rudeness and I hung up on her. WHAT A JOKE!!!!! This CAN NOT be real.

I received a call on last week Thursday from a Judy Baylor from Davidson & Associates claiming that I took a loan from USA Cash out several years ago, which I have never heard of. The phone number originated from sterling, va (571)370-3609. She threatened to send check fraud charges on me to court, if I didn’t address the matter. I couldn’t recall taking out a loan from that particular company, she also used a name and address that I hadn’t went by in years to verify my information. She got very disrespectful with me, and I couldn’t take anymore of it so I politely stooped to her level. She immediately backed down and allowed for me to talk. I told her that I did take a loan out from Cashnet.USA and I thought I finished paying it back. I was in a very bad financial situation back then. However, she used the wrong name, and address, to verify my information, the sad part is when I told her she didn’t care. She also stated that I don’t have anything on my criminal record because she pulled my background check and said it was clean. I didn’t give anyone authorization to pull anything on me. Anyway, she said I owed a $1000 plus taxes and late fees, and court fees, but could bust it down to $500 if I paid that day. I told her I didn’t have it so she agreed to a payment arrangement after so called talking to her client USA Cash and the lawyer who will be filing the charges if the 1st payment wasn’t made by 12/10 2019 at 12 noon.
Fast forward earlier on 12/9/2019 I decided to call Cashnet USA to see if they indeed sold my loan for none payment, in which they did. They also provided me with the company name and phone number, it wasn’t Davidson & Associates. I called the debt company they cashnet USA uses, and they verified that they have had it since 2017, they had my correct address and name that I used when I originally took the loan out, and the loan was taken out in 2016. I told them my original reason for calling and they stated that I was smart to not make a payment and to further look into the situation. The lady also stated they didn’t, and don’t have any intentions on selling the account to another debt agency, and that my original balance owed is only $153 dollars. I let them know that I will be calling them on tomorrow and making that payment. I will be getting documentation for my records. And I’m going to be calling Davidson and Associates tomorrow while I’m at the police station to file a report for fraud on them.

Recieved a call from sharon yesterday saying they are suing me for a medical debt that is 9 years old, even though the state I live in says I cannot be sued for a medical debt that is over 2 years old. They also contacted my employer, she told me she was a attorney, even though they didnt have my right information on file or couldn’t even tell me what the debt was about. Tried to have certified mail delivered at my former place of work.

Oct 8, 2019-Received phone call from “Allied Delivery Service” (caller ID was “No Caller ID – unknown”. (The only reason I answered it was that I thought my mom was calling me from Alexa.)

He (Michael) wanted to hand deliver mail from “Central Filing Office” that had to be signed by me and wanted to know if I would be home tomorrow. In order to confirm delivery, I had to call this phone number 1-888-222-5985 to confirm I would be home with a ref # ***-***-**.

When I called and gave them the reference #, they transferred me to “Hillcrest Davidson & Associates” and I spoke with Sharon. She “pulled her file on “me” and then wanted to verify I was ******* MARIE *******, D.O.B. Feb 1981??? (can’t remember date). MARIE is NOT my middle name.

I told her I was not that person, so she wanted MY phone number, so she could cross it off her contact list. I told her I was not sure about giving her my number because this might be a scam. She hung up. (I was calling from a VOIP #, not my cell phone).

Then I did a little research and found out that Hillcrest… is indeed a legitimate Collection Agency. At this point, I recalled a period of time, about 8-10 years ago, that a University in South FL was calling my cell constantly to remind me that my tuition payment was overdue. Finally, I returned their voicemail and I told them that they have a mistaken identity/phone # and the phone calls stopped.

1+1, I decided to call this number back to give them my cell # to get me off their list. I talked to Anthony, and explained why I was calling back, and HE actually told me the last four digits of my cell # to confirm which number should be taken off the list. Hopefully, this will stop all the darn random phone calls I get on my cell which, by the way, I do not answer. Wishful hoping, I know.

They never say who they are when they call. Just threaten going to court if you don’t call back. The calls started coming from Texas,. Called told them Demond Davis doesn’t own this number and is not me, to stop calling. Now the calls come from Virginia. They were rude and said I was wrong and hung up on me. I have blocked those calls. The last number came from 571-210-7534, Sterling Virginia.

  • WD R

Davidson and Associates out of Virginia is not Hillcrest Davidson and Assoc out of Texas. These are separate entities.

I got a call yesterday by a Sharon Myers from Davison and Associates claiming I have a payday loan from like years ago she was nice but said if I don’t pay $500 I’m going to prison.

  • Julia

I received a call from Davidson and Associates. The call was from 571-370-3400. I tried to call back but a recording said that number was not accepting calls. First of all, you just garnish my wages without talking to me to let me know who it is I owe or whether or not its been paid. How are they are they allowed to garnish your wages out of the blue like that?

  • Carl R

Hillcrest Davidson and Assoc keep calling my number(s) (Home) (cell) and (work )regarding some outstanding bill. The last 4 digits of the ss # they mentioned was not mine and the address they have on file I have no knowledge of either. The only information that seem to be correct is the name. They continue to call even though they realize the information they have is definitely not me. I have no idea how they find my work # which is not listed.

  • Patrick

Davidson and Associates (never mentioned Hillcrest) called from a Sterling, Virginia phone number. I called back and the receptionist claimed they were in Richmond, Virginia. The person I was connected to knew my name based on my phone number and started mentioning a USA Cash Loan from an Ohio payday loan center by a person with a different birth date than me. I have never lived in Ohio and I have never been involved with a payday loan, so the were seeking the wrong person. When I asked for their address so I could make sure they were legitimate and would not accidentally hurt my credit score, the lady got angry, refused to provide the address, and hung up. They are incompetent, abusive, and despicable.

  • Rosie

I received a call from Davidson and Associates I was told they were in Richmond Virginia. I supposedly have an outstanding debt with USA cash loan over 10 years ago. I did pay the loan back but not sure where to begin looking for the proof because it has been so long ago. I spoke with Lacey and she stated they are not able to send me any documents showing what is owed etc… she threatened to garnishment or court.

  • Maty

I was contacted by Davidson and associates today regarding a payday loan under my name and all other information was correct, they said they had 3 counts on me for fraud and not sure what else. The rep told me I would be contacted by someone else within 20-30 business days regarding my “appearance date” I asked her for proof or the name of the company and she said she couldn’t tell me. She said I needed an attorney. I had a payday loan a long time ago which I payed back. But that was 10+ years ago. She said they’ve been trying to send me correspondence as well as emails but I have not received anything! These aren’t things I take lightly and I would’ve absolutely responded back with something. But I’m getting a bigger feeling it’s fraud because it’s happened before.

Got a letter from Hillcrest Davidson regarding an old security contract with SAFE Security. This after multiple calls everyday from different numbers, but never leaving a message. They say I owe $588. I found the email from 2017 where I sent the letter I was told to submit to cancel my account. The account representative stayed on the line with me until she received it. She put the cancellation in my file and said the payments would be terminated. The payments were previously taken from my bank account, but did indeed stop when I submitted the cancellation letter. I’m now being told the “contract” says I needed to cancel 30 days before the renewal date, or July 31st, so I need to pay for the entire year. My cancellation letter was sent and accepted on August 24th. We moved from that address a month later. A manager, Joel, at Hillcrest offered to “settle” for 40% of the total. Said he had someone on the line from SAFE Security, but no other person spoke. I refused and told them to take me to court as I have the proof of cancellation. They said they wouldn’t do that, but would report me to the credit agencies where it would stay on my record for 7 years and would tank my score by 100 points. He said he was documenting where I refused his offer to settle and hung up on me. I tried calling SAFE Security immediately afterwards. I was informed my account was no longer in their database and they would give me a phone number to contract the company in possession of it. This turned out to be Hillcrest. So now I am stuck with a $588 bill and no recourse to fight them.

Davidson and Associates(571 370-3400) called and said I have to call them immediately. Is this the same outfit as Hillcrest Davidson and Associates??? Hillcrest has received many complaints, to Better Business Bureau). I have not called them yet.

I had Safe Home Security for 6 years. Cancelled my service, got a confirmation letter account was closed, sold the house and moved to Florida a year ago. Somehow Safe Home Security made a mistake and sent my account to collections a year after it was closed. Safe Home acknowledged the error and are trying to fix it. I did reach out to Hillcrest Davidson to try to get this squared away. It’s not their fault that another merchant reported my account to them in error, however after giving Hillcrest Davidson a call, I am appalled at the customer service I received from them. I spoke with an associate named Travis who was extremely condescending. He was extremely rude until he pulled up my Safe Home information and found the error himself. Then I asked to speak with a manager and they connected me with Joel who was even worse. I told him I wanted to complain about the customer service I received from Travis. Joel told me they do collections and there isn’t any customer service involved………..now it all makes sense.

There is just a clear misunderstanding of how to treat people here.

I have an collection put on my credit that is not mine

  • Elena V

I too had a very rude person (Martin) talk to me very rudely (lack of a better word) Hung up on me. I had to call for his “supervisor” who said it would put a blemish on my credit history account. I have moved out of the area and no longer living at the house. Since I still own it. I guess. Until home sales increases I’ll just turn the property over. So I am maintaining 2 properties. The system has been “OFF” for a year and no service has been done. I did send them a copy of my military paperwork “PCS orders” but doesn’t seem to concern them. Like I have planned my home will go on sale this spring (when home sales generally go up).

Hillcrest Davidson & Associates sent me a letter in the mail yesterday. This was the first I had heard of the charges, so I contacted them to see what the charges were. There were so unprofessional, I was hung up on twice. Also told by one that she did not have to respect me because they were a debt collector. Horrible people!!! The guy who I was later told was a manager, told me that he was putting it on my credit as soon as we hung up. They told me I had been notified by the company at 60 days and 90 days. But I called the company this morning who confirmed they had never sent me a bill. No one should be allowed to operate a business this way! #Hillcrest Davidson & Associates
