On December 11, 2024, Sunsweet discovered that parts of its computer network were inaccessible. The company quickly secured its systems and launched an investigation with the help of third-party forensic experts. The review confirmed that an unauthorized actor had accessed certain network systems. While there is no definitive evidence that specific personal data was stolen, Sunsweet is notifying affected individuals out of an abundance of caution.
Exposed Information
The information that may have been involved includes:
- Full name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Medical treatment details
- Health insurance policy information
Not all individuals had all data types exposed.
What Sunsweet is Doing
The company says it took immediate steps to contain the breach, secure its network, and begin an investigation with the help of external cybersecurity professionals. According to Sunsweet, it has implemented enhanced security measures and is reviewing internal policies to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Although there is no confirmed misuse of the data, Sunsweet is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.
