Allied Interstate
Allied Interstate is a third-party debt collection agency based in Ohio. It has received consumer complaints alleging violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), including improper contact or sharing of information and threatening to take actions that cannot legally be taken. If you have been contacted by this debt collector, make sure you understand your rights before responding.

What is Allied Interstate?

Allied Interstate , LLC is one of America’s largest debt collectors. It is an Ohio company owned by iQor Holdings, Inc., which is headquartered in Florida and operates some 40 call centers in North America, Europe, and Asia. IQor, in turn, is owned by its management team and HGGC, a private equity firm based in Palo Alto, California, that is led by, among other lesser-known executives, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young.

Allied Interstate aggressively collects on consumer debts, including unpaid student loans and charges on various retail store credit cards (many of which, court records show, were issued by Synchrony Bank). Its collection practices often violate federal and state laws. In 2010, it paid a $1.75 million civil penalty to the Federal Trade Commission. And in October 2018, Allied Interstate and iQor agreed to pay $9 million—and stop their illegal debt collection practices—to settle a lawsuit brought against them by 18 California counties.

Is Allied Interstate a scam?

They’re legit. Allied Interstate is a legitimate collection agency based in New Albany, OH. Their website states that they specialize in accounts receivable, customer retention, and debt collection services to blue chip companies.  The Better Business Bureau website lists additional addresses in 18 other states, including AR, WA, IL, PA, MI, VA, NY, GA, NC, TX, AZ, WI, FL, MN, NV, CA, and CO. Complainants against Allied Interstate have reported calls from outside the United States, as well.

Who does Allied Interstate collect for?

Allied Interstate’s main focus is debt collection. They purchase delinquent debts from credit card companies, department stores, student loan financing companies, and other usual sources of consumer debt.

Their website is designed to capture as much information from debtors and others visiting their site as possible. Complaint, contact, and help forms ask site visitors for their account and contact information without informing them of their rights. Although their site does contain information about consumer rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), this information is not posted in an inconspicuous location. Instead, site visitors must click on a link labeled, “Legal Disclosures,” in the footer section. Allied Interstate, LLC has a reputation for calling consumers an excessive number of times, and for attempting to collect debts that are not owed.

Can you help me file a No Fee Lawsuit against Allied Interstate?

Absolutely.  You can sue a debt collector. Here is a Sample Case Filed in Federal Court:

In 2016, the District Attorney’s Offices in the Counties of Los Angeles and Santa Clara have each posted the reasons for a $10 million class action lawsuit against Allied Interstate. The case in Santa Clara alleges that employees of Allied, “calling from all over the world, have subjected numerous people to harassing calls for months on end, even when no money was owed.” One man received 126 calls in less than a month; another received 88 calls during a three-month period; and a third received numerous daily calls for the wrong person and the wrong number. In Los Angeles County, a couple received hundreds of calls for over three years, even after reporting the violations to the police. Both complaints cite a history of predatory violations, some of which have been previously settled in multimillion dollar agreements with the Federal Trade Commission. Allied denied wrongdoing on its BBB webpage.

In 2018, Allied Interstate agreed to pay a $9 million and curb illegal phone-calling practices to settle the civil consumer protection lawsuit brought by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and other county prosecutors.

The settlement, which is believed to be among the largest of its kind, sets strict phone call parameters for Allied Interstate LLC, its parent company iQor Holdings Inc. and affiliated firms over the next five years. It was the 11th law enforcement action filed against this debt collector over a period of 10 years.

Can Allied Interstate Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?

It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely Allied would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. However, debt collection agencies are known to have summoned debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. Find out if we can help you too today!

Allied Interstate Calling You?

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

Can I sue Allied for harassment?

Yes. If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. Federal laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

Nonstop . Answered phone by accident. Fyi I am a victim of identity theft several times over. Told them send a letter with details. Few weeks ago received a letter from another debt collector. It’s Qvc. I owe them nothing. Called synchrony. In fact they sent me documents as did my bank
Never use easy pay on qvc card. In fact , I made sure I used to debit card for easy payments. Special financing of course is different my opinion and conversation several years ago with synchrony. In fact I believe I had qvc on phone. My balance was zero fyi. Synchrony said qvc does not send credit card purchases to them (ez pays)
I had auto pay set up for debit card and synchrony bank
My significant other did send allied interstate a certified letter
They are in fact calling his number. Not mine! I found out it was qvc from the letter from collection agency two . They sent a letter
. Qvc should be sued for their skanky financialpractices .
Synchrony cannot charge me if q does not send the bill. Next qvc will block your account.
Again it could have been one of the perps that stole my identity.
    I tracked one perp
I have documentation from synchrony bank and my bank I owe qvc nothing.
I worked hard to fix my credit
Thanks to chase credit card and qvc I’ve gone from excellent to good. I pay my bills! In fact I would never pay a collection co.
Not first time report not paying. I paid Lerner’s years ago at the store with a check. Knew the manager. What happened. Sent to collections!
Manager told them paid in full. In fact I received the check from my bank (yes years ago) another hecht’s. 2 years. I do not wear a size 10. That’s another scenario. Ended with me talking to exec at the store. In fact 2 years? What happened. The clerk accidentally used my card for another customer. She was tired. She immediately credit it back to me. Shoes same price. However different sizes.
A letter was written to hecht’s credit backed up by the manager in shoes . And their in store credit
May as well sent blank page. In fact the exec was treated poorly.
You could hear the collection dept laughing. Boiler room operation
Yes I had the receipt to credit back the second pair of shoes.
My advice. Do not use a store card. Use bank card.
Ps allied called my phone too. They are blocked. In fact , my account with qvc was under another number. It ticks me off they called my boyfriend number.

I am getting calls from 1-844-970-2070, it is from Allied. I believe they are trying to collect a debt on behalf of Navient. I do not answer the call. They are constantly calling my ex, my husband, and me. It is becoming overwhelming with phone calls I get a week. It is also embarrassing for them to call people of my past.

  • Lisa

Someone stole my identity and allied interstate saying i owe navient and they had the nerve to call my ex n my sister saying they need to get in touch with me i had won a prize. Now they garnishing my pay. I never went to the school in question. Can i sue?

  • Tracy

My son has received letters from 3 seperate collection agencies for the same loan, He has written the collection companies asking for details of the loan and where his payments have gone to. No one can give any information and simply say they don’t have to. and then hang up. just recently received another letter from allied interstate LLC stating this same debt, no further information. Constantly receiving robo calls. I have sent letters asking proof of debt to no avail there is no record that they can provide of payments made.

  • Carl

They call constantly and will not state the debt, asking me to confirm the last four of my social, which I refuse to do until they tell me the name of the debtor. I think that they are scamming some debt information from other debtors, to make money. I have never talked to a less professional company, which makes me think that they are liars.

Allied Interstate LLC have called me for over 8 months, sometimes 4-8 times a day. It is an Asian person who barley speaks clear enough to understand. He Has called me about Social Security scam, S.D.G. & E. Saying he is sending out a person in a van to disconnect my electricity due to non payment. I have NO debt. or past due bills of any kind. I called them back and it was S.D.G.& E. recording but then goes directly to the same Asian man who uses many different names, and different numbers. He almost convinced me of a bill I KNEW was not past due. I called S.D.G.& E. phone number from my monthly bill and they confirmed it was a scam. These people are calling from a call center as I can hear the back ground peoples calls, all Asian accents. NO ONE WILL HELP ME EVEN A CALL FROM HIM REGARDING A WAL-MART scam. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

  • Mmmm

Just recieved a call from them. They seem to be watching my business. I barely posted a number to my business, and they are calling me at 8:08am (pst). I noted that when I called them back, the number they called from became unmasked. I was removed from the call list. We will see if they call again.
One last thing-they refuse to identify anything beyond saying thsy are Allied Interstate. I had to look them up and find all this mess to figure out what they do. I’ve blocked their number.

    The number they are

  • Jorge

This company is violation of the settlement reached between them and the State of California. Just yesterday they called my cell five (5) times.

  • Carla

Navient is reporting 4 delinquent accounts from student loans. I did not take out 4 student loans . I only had 2. Thet call me every day at all hours, nonstop.

  • Erika R

Allied is contacting me as well. I think they are working in conjunction with Navient/Sallie Mae. I’ve had COUNTLESS collection agencies call me over a period of at least 10 years if not 15 years. I’ve had falsified documents sent to me with information literally whited out and written in with other information in to try to prove their case. Schools I never attended. Schools I attended and never received loans for. This has been an ongoing battle for years. I have all of my previous documentation as well. I have taken it to a lawyer before to no avail. I was told there was nothing that could be done. They just called me again this morning. I’m always asking for proof of debt. No one can provide valid proof. I have told them, if you can provide VALID proof of debt, I will pay it in full! I won’t even take the payoff amount!

  • Kelli J

Allied is such a scam! They are garnishing my pay for a loan that was paid YEARS AGO! Ive paid over 2000 on. INTEREST alone and they’re saying in 16 months the amount has gone up despite their 300 dollaf EVERY TWO WEEK garnishment! They never provided a court order and never tried to take me to court to even get a garnishment ruling! They’ve been stealing my pay since sept 2016 and my debt with them keeps going up not down!

  • Denise M

I received a letter from Allied Interstate LLC saying my son and I owe Navient/Sallie Mae Bank over $36000. They said the client is willing to accept $1800 as full settlement of this debt. I am suspicious of such low payoff. I would love to accept the offer but I’m afraid that if I pay this later I might hear from Navient/Sallie Mae I still owe. I don’t know what to do.

  • Mary

Going through the same thing! They are trying to collect from me on a debt that was verified as NOT MINE! The collection agency prior sent me a letter once I asked the debt be verified. The letter CONFIRMED acknowledgement that these were not my debts. In the letter it stated that they’d be removing it from all three credit bureaus which they did. Now Mitchell Bluhm is trying to collect the same debt that I have documents proving it was not mine!

When I try to talk to them they threaten me with all sorts of things. I asked for verification and offered the proof documentation I have from both the original creditor and the previous agency. They laughed saying mother jokes about my mother and using foul language and laughing.

Now every time they call it shows fake company names and fake phone numbers on the caller ID. I have documented everything as well as recorded the calls. I am seeking and attorney to file suit against them! Furthermore, I am getting both state and federal agencies involved. They are obviously doing this to a lot of people.

When I stated I would go online and start posting what they are doing, they threatened to put others collection accounts from different people on to my credit. I HAVE THIS RECORDED. When I said that’s illegal, they said so what, try stopping us and laughed. Or they said I can pay them money and that won’t happen to me.

I’m looking for an attorney to file a lawsuit against them and like I said, I’m turning the recorded tapes and phone records over to both state and federal authorities.

  • L. S

Navient/Sallie Mae has been collecting money from me since 2014 for student loan of 38000. I paid 3800 in 2014 and monthly payments of 199.00. May 2016 I get a call from Allied Interstate saying g that they received my student loan from Navient/SallieMae. I have paid them 400 dollars so far yet that same student loan is over 38000 now. Can you help me?

I have recently sent a letter from Allied interstate LLC with the telephone number area code 888-253–3108 stating that they were a debt collection company and Navient Education Credit Fin Corp has contracted with them to collect the debt noted above. i have never had a student loan with Navient or Allied Interstate. In addition they have been calling my cell phone which I know I never gave them because I don’t even know who they are. All of my debt was listed in a bankruptcy in Sep 2011 and they were not on the list nor was Navient. The calls are robo or automated in style so I never spoke with anyone. They recently sent me a letter date March 15, 2016.
