Class Action Investigation

Volvo Polestar 2 infotainment camera glitches

Lemberg Law is investigating persistent infotainment system failures and rearview camera issues in 2021–2025 Volvo models and Polestar 2 EVs.

Owners report infotainment glitches, black screens, frozen Google apps, and backup cameras that go dark or lag when reversing even after software recall updates were applied.

What’s Going On with Volvo and Polestar Systems?

Drivers across multiple Volvo and Polestar models are reporting serious technical issues, including:

  • Rearview and 360-degree cameras fail to load or remain black
  • Messages appear saying “Camera Temporarily Unavailable
  • Infotainment systems freeze, reboot randomly, or crash mid-drive
  • Features like navigation, climate control, and alerts disappear during glitches
  • Over-the-air updates do not always resolve the issue
  • Some fixes introduce new problems or only work temporarily

Volvo and Polestar have issued recalls and software patches, but many owners say their vehicles still have unresolved problems.

Models Affected by Infotainment and Camera Problems

According to complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and posts on user forums, affected models include:

  • 2022 – 2025 Volvo XC60: Frequent system disconnections, Google app glitches
  • 2023 – 2025 Volvo XC90: Recurring infotainment resets and backup camera failures
  • 2021 – 2025 Volvo XC40: Reboots, dropped connections, sluggish display
  • 2024 – 2025 Polestar 2: Delayed or unavailable rear camera views and intermittent failures

These models share Volvo’s Google Built-In platform, which appears to be a common factor in the failures.

What Owners Are Saying

“Camera went black while backing up. At the same time, the climate controls and warning sounds disappeared. I had to reboot the car to get anything back.” — XC60 owner

“Camera system has failed twice in 3 weeks. Dealer did the recall fix, but the camera is still glitching. This is a brand-new vehicle.” — XC90 owner

“Infotainment system crashed on the highway. I lost navigation, backup warnings, and lane assist. Everything came back minutes later, but it felt unsafe.” — XC40 owner

“Backup camera lags every time I start the car. It either doesn’t load or switches to the 360 view. Software updates didn’t help.” — Polestar 2 owner
