Top Problem #1: Sudden Unintended Acceleration

The consistent distraction this causes while trying to navigate through unknown streets has caused both my wife and I to get lost, take the wrong turns, or get stressed and confused while driving.”

- Loud explosion-like sound followed by falling glass shards inside and outside the vehicle.

- Recurring incidents even when the sunroof is unused or closed.

“Somehow the sunroof had exploded. There were no cars close to me and no overpasses or trees in the vicinity. I have had the car for almost 3 months and have never opened the sunroof.”
“When driving our Rav 4 we heard loud bang type noise. We stopped and pulled over and looked all around the Rav 4 and didn’t see anything. When I checked the roof I found our sunroof had shattered. The sunroof was closed at the time.”
Toyota dealerships confirm multiple calls about this defect, yet no nationwide recall has been issued as of this writing.

“Upon leaving the keys in the ignition overnight, the battery was drained. The jumper cables were in a compartment located inside the trunk but there was no keyhole for the trunk of the vehicle. Unable to unlock the vehicle due to the battery failure.”
“The instrument panel intermittently went black. The failure became persistent over time. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not yet available for the repair.”
Dealers report part unavailability delaying repairs and Toyota corporate has acknowledged some recalls related to electrical systems that remain unfixed for many affected vehicles.
