Visibility issues among the top complaints received by the NHTSA from vehicle owners

Luxury cars are required to offer something different from the standard lineup. The 2020 Lexus IS 350 is said to have an “uncommon design, unprecedented engineering.” However, customers are wishing that it was engineered normally instead. This model seems to struggle with the visibility and powertrain.

Problems with the Visibility

Seeing out of the windshield is a vital part of driving any vehicle. When it comes to driving a luxury model, especially the Lexus IS350, this is something that shouldn’t even be causing a concern, but it is.

Look at this NHTSA complaint. “The dashboard of my 2020 Lexus IS350 that I have had for less than a month is already scuffed. I was simply trying to swipe a piece of hair off of the dash and it left a scuff on the dashboard that will not come out. I am devastated as I spent $50,000 on this car and have always taken immaculate care of my vehicles; however, simply wiping the dash has caused irreversible scuffs. After researching this issue, I do see hundreds of other Lexus owners have the same issue. Is there an existing recall for this that can be extended into the 2020s? I have never had this issue with any other luxury vehicles that I’ve ever owned for 5+ years.”

While the dashboard itself doesn’t have a lot to do with the visibility directly, it can cause indirect problems. Imagine driving down the road only to notice unfixable scuffs right below the auto glass. Not only is this distracting, but it could also show up in the glare of the auto glass, creating visibility problems. This type of engineering shows where the Lexus IS350 is at, but so does Service Bulletin #L-SB-0002-20Rev. This communication doesn’t talk about visibility, but discusses a major defect with the powertrain. It turns out that this Lexus IS350 allows fluid to leak from the powertrain components. The truth is out – the design is uncommon and the engineering is completely unprecedented, but it should have remained undone to save the drivers from aggravation.
