2024–2025 Honda Prologue Infotainment Screens Going Blank & Backup Camera Failures

Updated on Author: Sergei Lemberg

2024 Honda Prologue

I’ve been tracking defect patterns in new vehicles for more than two decades, and January 2025 brought something that immediately got my attention. While reviewing federal safety complaints filed with NHTSA, I noticed a cluster of reports about the Honda Prologue, Honda’s first mainstream electric SUV, all describing the same alarming failure: both display screens going completely black while driving.

Not flickering. Not glitching. Completely blank.

No speedometer or warning lights. Drivers reporting they were suddenly operating a modern vehicle with no visual feedback about speed, navigation, or critical safety systems, sometimes at highway speeds.

I’m Sergei Lemberg, a consumer protection and lemon law attorney, and for more than twenty years I’ve investigated recurring vehicle defects. Here is what my research shows on the Honda Prologue.

Let’s dive in.

What’s Wrong with the Prologue Infotainment Screen?

The Honda Prologue depends almost entirely on digital displays to deliver essential driving information, including speed, warnings, navigation, and camera views. When those systems fail, there is no analog backup.

In reviewing owner complaints and service records, a consistent failure pattern emerges. Drivers report sudden, complete screen shutdowns during normal driving, sometimes at highway speeds. In many cases, the displays do not immediately return, even after the vehicle is turned off and restarted.

The most commonly reported issues include:

  • Infotainment screen going completely black while driving
  • Driver display shutting off with no visible speedometer
  • Loss of navigation, alerts, and vehicle information
  • Backup camera feed failing or unavailable
  • Screens remaining blank after restarting the vehicle
  • Failures occurring during routine driving conditions

Prologue Infotainment Complaint Examples

Here are examples of complaints submitted to the NHTSA:

1) “Both of my infotainment screens went off completely while driving and this is very frustrating and unsafe”

2) “The dash and infotainment shut down and went completely blank screen while driving. No speedometer. No information on how fast I was going.”

3) “I was driving on the interstate and the infotainment and drivers dashboard display cut off. I attempted to turn the car off and back on and nothing happened.”

4) “About 30 miles after starting a 1,500-mile road trip, the infotainment screen and driver instrument panel both went completely blank. After about 60 seconds, the system apparently rebooted, restoring both screens to normal operation. However, during that minute I was driving at approximately 75 mph on Interstate 90, and I had no access to certain vehicle controls and no way to verify my speed or see messages about cruise control. The error generated no warning lights or error codes, so I have not reported the issue to the manufacturer or dealership.”

Service Bulletin 25-051

In July 2025, Honda issued Service Bulletin 25-051, which applies to all 2024 Honda Prologue vehicles. This bulletin documents known issues with the A11 Radio Control Module, which governs the infotainment system and communicates with the instrument cluster.

The bulletin explicitly acknowledges that the system can experience:

  • Intermittent blanking of the instrument cluster
  • Intermittent blanking of the infotainment display
  • Display failures occurring while driving

Honda’s stated corrective action is a software update to the A11 Radio Control Module. The bulletin explains that the update is intended to reduce issues that can cause blank screens while driving, along with other display-related malfunctions.

Is There a Recall?

As of this writing, there is no formal recall associated with the Prologue infotainment screen issue. The Service Bulletin 25-051 is a repair procedure sent to dealers, not a mandatory safety recall that triggers direct consumer notification.

What You Can Do

If you own or lease a 2024–2025 Honda Prologue and have experienced screen failures, consider taking the following steps:

  • Document every incident, including date, mileage, speed, and driving conditions
  • Ask your dealer specifically whether Service Bulletin 25-051 has been applied
  • Keep copies of all service records and repair orders
  • File a safety complaint with NHTSA so the issue is formally recorded
  • Track repeat failures, even after software updates
  • Do not dismiss the problem if it affects your ability to drive safely
