Is First Credit Services a scam?

They’re legit. First Credit Services is a legitimate debt collection agency. It offers both early and late stage collections. Their early stage collection tactics mirror those of other first-party collection agencies, namely phone calls, emails, and letters designed to bring members back into the fold. FCS’ third-party collections incorporate skip tracing, robocalling, and letters, along with credit bureau reporting.

If you’ve suffered from FCS debt harassment, you do have options. Under the law you can recover up to $1,000 for violations of the FDCPA, and $500 to $1,500 for each cell phone robocall.

Who does First Credit Services collect for?

First Credit Services is a collection agency that started business in 1993 and that specializes in collections related to the health and fitness industry. Located in Piscataway, New Jersey, FCS has more than 2,500 clients, including fitness clubs, corporate gyms, gyms, martial arts academies, and personal trainers. Their promise is to outperform the companies’ own staff or the collection agency they currently use.

Can First Credit Services Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?

It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely  FCS would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. However, debt collection agencies are known to have summoned debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. Find out if we can help you too today!

Sent certified letters in mail requesting cancellation to Anytime Fitness facility and also to the billing company regarding my membership as my agreement ended Jan 13th 2023. Was told by manager in text that he received my request to cancel. The billing company even refunded me for the months that I was billed after my contract ended. Thought it was over. But then I start getting Non-stop calls from First Credit Services saying I owe $300+ dollars. That my credit will be ruined if I do not pay. I tried to explain that I have physical proof that I canceled and was refunded. They told me I HAD to pay and that I would get in trouble legally. Now I get calls 2-3 times a day and am being harassed all times of the day. Wish I had NEVER joined that Gym. I have been dealing with this issue for 3 years. Charged for 3 years! Just want it to end. I am a single Mom. I am afraid to join another gym due to this experience.

I have been getting calls every day multiple times a day. I tried canceling my membership at Crunch but they said they could not do it over the phone. I live in a whole other state now and could not physically do that. This was months ago. I am not sure what to do because they saw I owe 300 something and I will not be paying that but I don’t want it to affect my credit.

I have been getting calls from first credit services nearly every week and day….they call from different numbers so far as Georgia… Indiana… New Jersey as well as Texas…I have a record of each call and I’ve blocked the majority of them but they still call from different numbers…I just want them to leave me alone…I’ve tried numerous times to cancel my membership with anytime fitness and each time they would refuse or say I have to pay the balance or wait until a certain month to do so… I’ve never had a hard time with cancelling anything till I got a membership with them…I just need help because this credit company is getting on my nerves,
