Is Systems & Services Technologies a scam?

They’re legit. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Systems & Services Technologies , Inc. is a legitimate collection agency, founded in 1995. The BBB established a profile page for SST in 1998. The BBB lists SST as a collection agency and loan servicer that uses the alternate business name, NCO Financial Systems. Buzzfile estimates the size of SST’s headquarters staff at 200 employees. A search for NCO Financial Systems on the Buzzfile website leads to the profile page for Alorica Global Systems, Inc. According to Buzzfile, Alorica uses the alternate business names, Expert Global Solutions, Inc., and NCO Financial Systems.

According to its website, SST is “the nation’s leading consumer loan servicer…and is committed to being the third-party servicer of choice for originators and purchasers of consumer assets.” SST offers its “clients sophisticated asset servicing options to support whatever direction their business is headed.” SST’s “servicing solutions enable…clients to balance their overhead with their true business requirements, rather than maintaining high staff and infrastructure levels to support fluctuating loan portfolios.”

SST was originally formed “to service a variety of consumer assets, with the initial focus on subprime auto loans.” Currently, SST “provides customized servicing solutions across the credit spectrum…for auto loans and leases; recreational vehicles; boats; motorcycles and power sports equipment; credit cards; signature loans; manufactured housing; and other consumer receivables.”

Systems & Services Technologies offers “solutions” in 6 areas: loan servicing; backup and data aggregation servicing; reporting and performance; technology; credit card lenders; and deficiency collections. SST’s loan servicing division “provides primary servicing for…clients through two channels: conduits (daily flow relationships) and bulk transfer transactions (portfolio acquisitions).” Their backup and data aggregation division “offers various levels of back-up servicing for multiple asset classes and credit qualities.” SST’s reporting and performance division utilizes “systems and personnel to provide…clients with timely, accurate reporting and monitoring of performance.” SST also states that its “leadership position… results from… state-of-the-art technology used to achieve outstanding results.”

SST’s credit card servicing division provides third-party credit card servicing from “asset generation” to “deficiency collections.” SST’s deficiency collections division “provides third-party deficiency collections through NCO Financial Systems, its parent company…and integrates… collections with its other services to ensure that each client’s experience is coordinated and complete.” SST’s website is client-facing and does not provide any links or references to consumer protection resources, laws, or enforcement agencies.

Can Systems & Services Technologies Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?

It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely SST would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. However, debt collection agencies are known to have summoned debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. Can you help me file a No Fee Lawsuit against Systems & Services Technologies?

Absolutely. Here are some Sample Complaints

Complaints against Systems & Services Technologies cite problems resulting from disputes about the validity of debts and the accuracy of accounting and credit reporting practices. In January 2017, a complainant stated that she had been “battling with Equifax for the last few months” regarding “some fraud on her report, and it has been a complete nightmare for” her. She stated that she had discovered a derogatory item from SST for an account that has had a zero balance for over two years. She “filed a complaint against Equifax about 2 weeks prior to her complaint, but as of yesterday morning, those accounts… both have a positive balance…and were reported as a new charge-off and derogatory.” The negative items had allegedly sent her “credit into a tail spin and her stress and health are taking a toll.” She also stated that she had “already been fighting with someone using her social security number, and now she has to fight a large company.”

Also in January 2017, a complainant stated that he had “opened a credit card account with SST…and had paid faithfully until going through a” difficulty. Subsequently, “a second account popped up on his credit report, with a different account number, also attributed to SST.” He said that “both accounts have the same date of being opened.” He also said he had “tried to have one of them removed as it is clearly a duplicate, but many letters later,…they still appear on his credit report.” He “asked SST to provide the proof that he personally opened both accounts, but they have failed to do so AND the marks on his credit report remain.”
In January 2016, a complainant stated that his auto loan had been sold to Systems & Services Technologies, who now “manages all aspects of this loan but… has no knowledge of any activities related to this loan.” He stated that “when he first received the notice of the sale, he realized his minimum monthly payment amount was not accurate.” He “notified SST about this error and was told it would be investigated,” but SST’s “investigation did not uncover any error.” The complainant “tried several times to resolve this matter, but he has had no success.” As for the original loan servicer, he said that payments were“auto drafted from his account BIMONTHLY for $150.00. Therefore, he was paying $300.00 per month when his minimum payment was $280.00.” He also stated that “SST has his minimum payment set at $150 MONTHLY,” and even though his “maturation date was” already passed, “SST was still attempting to collect payments despite the fact that he never missed a payment and had already reached his 75-month… term.” Regardless, he stated that “no one at SST will look into this matter.”

SST did not provide public responses to these complaints.

Systems & Services Technologies Calling You?

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

But here’s the rub: If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. These laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

I took a credit building loan out with SeedFi of $5000 with payments of $80 every two weeks. Not far into paying, the loan was sold to SST. I was told I didn’t need to do anything and that everything would remain the same. I recently paid off the balance of the loan (around $4400). The amount in the secured savings (around $3000) was to be refunded to me. I was also charged another $80 from my account on auto draft, which my profile online states I am not enrolled in. After calling…a lot, that has been returned. The $3000 has not. I logged into my account 2 days ago and there was an option to request transfer of the funds back into my account. However, when I did so, it gave an error message. Another call in, and I was told the account was closed and to wait a couple of hours. I decided to wait a day. Yesterday, the option to request the funds transferred was not there. Today, it is still not there. I am being told now (a different story every time I call in) that I have to wait for an email that will tell me I can request the funds before I can do anything. I paid the balance off on 4/7/2023…15 days will be 4/22/2023. I will give it until then to get that so called email or I will be seeking legal action against them. Nowhere in my original contract with SeedFi that I can find, does it state I will have to wait 15 days before my funds can be transferred back to me.

I took out a loan from Seedfi in which the loan was for $1750. I received $500 and the remaining $1250 was to be put in a locked savings account until I paid off the entire amount, then be released to me via direct deposit to my account. I paid off my loan on Dec. 8, 2022. In that time Seedfi sold out to SST. I called to see when my money would be direct deposited and I was told that they changed that and now I would have to wait 30 days for a paper check
To arrive. It has been more than 30 days and no check. I called this morning, which is no joy, the customer service is insanely horrible and they hang up on you or put you on hold for long long time periods, but when I got someone she said to give her an account number and routing number. And my money would be there in 15-20 days. I gave her an account number that I seldom use and has no money in it so they can’t take my money, but now I am supposed to wait another 15-20 days to get money that I should have had over a mo th ago. After reading the BBB complaints I don’t think I will ever see that money and I am ready to file a case against them.

I took a loan out with seedfi who sold my loan to sst and said the terms of my loans would not change. Yet here we are I am ahead on my payments but all of my payments to sst have gone to interest when seedfi told me I could make “principal only payments” if I was ahead on my payments. Is this legal?

  • Crystal S

I took out a loan with Seed they have now transferred it to SST who don’t answer emails and if you call them they hang up on you or talk to you and update your info and then put you on hold eternally. Call back and no answer. I stopped the Auto Payments and they took money out of my account anyway. I didn’t sign up with SST. I want to cancel get my money and be done with SST. Seed was a great company but this company is a joke.

SST ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS, I OWED 5800 TWO YEARS AGO, I PAID 250.00 PER MONTH FOR TWO YEARS, AND NOW THEY SAY I OWE OVER 6,000 STILL. SO I STOPPED PAYING THEM, NOW THEY ARE HARASSING ME AT WORK AND ON MY CELL PHONE ALL DAY LONG.

  • Timothy C

My complaints about SST is why don’t they have billing statements posted online so people can see the distribution of payment to the balance principle and interest. While purchasing a vehicle I called them to request documentation to confirm my loan was in fact a personal loan and not a car loan. The request was submitted but never processed. Before I could drive off the lot with the vehicle I had to call SST and stay on the line with them until the request was finally processed. Multiple times SST customer service disconnected the call and didn’t bother to conduct a call back. I have called multiple times to request a billing statement, I get confirmation over the phone that the statement will be emailed within 48 hours, 2 days later I never receive the billing statement and the process of requesting statements continues. Please let me know what I can do to either get out of this loan or take action to get what I am requesting.

SST has our payoff amount on our boat wrong and is charging us almost $5 per day in daily interest. They stated we have a daily interest loan. We purchased our boat through Sallie Mae, RKL bought the loan and has since dumped it off to SST. No one can show me in writing where they have the right to charge daily interest and they told me a late payment has caused me to have to pay the additional $7k in charges. We should only owe about $9600 on the boat and should be done in 2022-we have no idea where to go for help!!

  • Shannon M

SST not posting my payment but taking my money. Just got off the phone with a bill collecter and i have the cancelled check. They said the last payment they got was in August. Cancelled check says it was cashed Sept 17th. Today is the 25th.
