My Investigation Into the 2025 Honda Prologue Problems: What Owners Need to Know
Our research into the 2025 Honda Prologue found recurring reports of front axle clicking noises, high-voltage battery system failures, and unexpected braking malfunctions.

Why We Looked into this Vehicle
The 2025 Honda Prologue looks like a slick electric SUV developed by Honda in partnership with GM—right? Let me tell you a quick story.
While reviewing inquiries coming into our law firm, I noticed something familiar: complaints about CV axle clicking, the same issue we saw with the 2024 Prologue (which we’ve covered previously). That’s interesting.
So I decided to take a closer look. I’m Sergei Lemberg, and for more than twenty years I’ve represented consumers in lemon law and vehicle defect cases. In the sections below, I summarize what I found to help Prologue owners understand what may be going wrong and what legal options could be available.
Most Common Problems With the 2025 Prologue
Based on multiple data sources, including National Highway Traffic Safety Administration complaints, verified consumer feedback, and internal case histories at Lemberg Law, I identified several persistent problems affecting the 2025 Honda Prologue:
- Front Axle Clicking Noise: Loud clicking or knocking noises when turning, often linked to defective CV joints or axles that have repeatedly failed even after replacement.
- High Voltage Battery and Charging System Failures: Warning messages such as “Service High Voltage System” lead to heating failures and inability to charge, sometimes requiring extended dealership repairs or full battery replacement.
- Poor Backup Camera Performance at Night: Extremely dim rear camera images and weak reverse lights pose safety hazards by limiting visibility in low light conditions.
- Unintended Braking and ADAS Malfunctions: Sudden automatic braking while reversing or driving, including false collision warnings causing dangerous, unexpected stops.

Top Problem #1: Front Axle Clicking Noise
I have found the most commonly reported defect centers on a persistent clicking or knocking noise coming from the front axle or CV joints when making turns, especially sharp turns at low speeds. It’s the same as the 2024 model.
Owners describe symptoms including:
- Clicking noise when making turns
- Reoccurring axle failures after repairs
- Dealers requiring multiple visits with no permanent solution
- Increased risk of axle breakage causing loss of control
- Frustration over unresolved issue
One owner stated:
“When turning right or left the vehicle is making a clicking sound. When I first got the vehicle within a month of ownership it made this sound prior to me making my first payment. I took it to the dealership for assessment and they said that there was an issue with the axle. They replaced both front axles but less than 3 months later the sound is back and I have taken my vehicle back to Honda. They told me that they have to contact corporate to see how Honda will want to handle the issue. “
Top Problem #2: High Voltage Battery and Charging System Failures
Many 2025 Prologue drivers report receiving dashboard warnings such as “Service High Voltage System” and “Reduced Acceleration – Drive With Care.” These faults often coincide with:
- “Service High Voltage System” warning light activates
- Loss of cabin heating and defrost function
- Reduced acceleration and drive care warnings
- Inability to charge at public or home chargers
- Extended repair times with delayed parts availability
Here’s how one owner explained the issue:
‘While driving I received a warning that said ;’Service high Voltage System‘ that came up on my dashboard. I have had my vehicle just for a couple of months and this is the second issue that I am having with the vehicle since purchasing it. I have taken it back to Honda who is now telling me that they have to do some tests to try and figure out the issue which seems to be a known issue which some forums show that may affect the heating system or cause you to need a complete battery replacement.”
Top Problem #3: Poor Backup Camera Performance at Night
Many Prologue owners find the rearview camera nearly unusable in low light or nighttime conditions due to dim or inadequate lighting. Key details include:
- Dark, low-visibility rear camera images at night
- Reverse LED lights too dim to adequately light obstacles
- Safety concerns when backing up in low light conditions
- No dealer-provided solution or recall to address the issue
According to one owner:
“The rear view camera display is too dark at night and does not provide adequate ability to see objects while reversing. This increases the chance of accidents or damage to the vehicle. The white reverse lights are not sufficient to provide lighting and the display does not have enough brightness and contrast. I have turned up the brightness to the maximum setting.”
When the 2025 Prologue May Meet Lemon Law Criteria
If your Prologue exhibits persistent problems that impair its use, value, or safety, it may meet your state’s legal definition of a lemon. Typically, a lemon vehicle has repeated, unresolved defects covered by warranty that substantially impair its function and safety.
Here are steps you can take if you are in a potential lemon situation:
- Keep detailed records of all repairs, service visits, warning lights, and communications with dealerships
- File complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to document safety risks
- Understand your state lemon law deadlines and eligibility criteria
- Consult a lemon law attorney with experience representing consumers against manufacturers
