Windshield wiper failure, electrical system and engine issues among the top complaints received by the NHTSA from vehicle owners
Few sports cars are as iconic as the Camaro. The automaker hoped to continue the long line of enthusiasm with the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro with the tagline “the legend continues.” However, the model should have bowed out while it was ahead, as this model struggles with the engine, visibility and electrical system.

To create a powerful sports car, a potent engine must be included. What appears superior on the outside, turns out to be a dud, according to drivers.
Here is just one Edmunds review to look at. “Minor problem with electronic throttle lag. It feels as if the power comes on just a little behind the throttle input. My old LS3 never had this issue, with immediate power delivery on throttle input. It’s not really annoying, but until I got used to it, I revved a bit high when throttle blipping to begin driving in first gear.”
However, the problems go even deeper than a throttle lag. Working in conjunction with the engine needs to be a well-functioning fuel system. Yet, there is a recall on the Camaro’s fuel system. NHTSA Campaign Number 19V837000 states that the fuel pump might have a missing pressure regulator, which causes too much pressure to occur. When this happens, the fuel pump can crack and leak, thereby leading to an increased chance of fire. Apparently, Chevy fully knows that this legend is done – which is why it is trying to have it go down in a blaze of glory.

Everyone wants to see clearly, which is why visibility is a must. Between the auto glass and the wipers, owners need to have a clear shot down the road in order to be safe.
Yet, there is an NHTSA complaint that says this system is in trouble. “The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the windshield wipers failed to operate, the contact took the vehicle to [dealership] where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently without warning. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.”
So, what is Chevy talking about? With Service Bulletin #19NA221, Chevrolet only wants to talk about how the auto glass can get streaky. Maybe the company should focus on creating durable windshield wipers versus teaching people how to clean auto glass. Otherwise, this sports car is only meant for driving on sunny, clear days.

One final look at the electrical system shows that there are just as many defects to deal with.
Here is one more NHTSA complaint. “Interior lights stayed on and OnStar was contacted as I was afraid to drive with a light on and they stated that it’s safe to drive. I drive to work and 5 miles from work the vehicle stalled while operating and the Engine Light comes on. I got the vehicle in December with 4 miles and OnStar did a diagnostic and it states engine and transmission problems. I’m unnerved by the whole experience and now it is at the service department at [dealership] while I await what’s wrong with my car.”
The communications are filled with other electrical system troubles. One such issue is listed with Service Bulletin #19NA226. It states that the Launch Control might become inoperative, which is sure to displease a lot of drivers looking for some excitement. Whether owners are driving with no wipers or interior lights that won’t go off, it’s clear they aren’t expected to see very well. Who cares about driving safely as long as the car goes fast?

I have a 2020 1lt Camaro V6 Coupe. At 51k miles. I moved from TX to WI then to MI. The first winter my battery died. I replaced it just to have the whole coolant system malfunction. I had that fixed by a Chevy dealership under power train warranty. In Michigan I put my car in storage with the battery out due to it dying and put it on a trickle charge. When putting it back in and turning the car on it put out an engine light. Code says high transmission circuit output. Went to dealership they said nothing was wrong with it.
It has been tugging when driving and when I go to stop it tugs and sounds like it’s still driving (revving sounds are loud when at a stop) Still dealership says when test driving they can’t mirror what I see.
