Wheels and forward collision warning system issues among the top complaints received by the NHTSA from vehicle owners
In the world of high-end sedans, there are only a few brands that supply what people want. The 2019 Infiniti Q60 was hailed as one of these, even offering “the luxury of performance,” with newer models, according to the automaker. However, the performance is lacking, considering the trouble being reported about the wheels and advanced safety systems.
The first issue deals with the wheels and tires. While this Infiniti model isn’t the largest of the bunch, it should still have a spare tire of some sort. However, customers find out after the sale that they are left without one.
Here’s one Edmunds review. “It doesn’t have a spare/donut if you have a flat. That can be a very bad situation if you hit a pothole that slices your tire open to make driving impossible. This is really bad when you’re a female driving out of state, in the mountains, in the middle of nowhere with poor cellular reception. So you definitely want to take that in consideration.”
Little does this driver know but Infiniti is dealing with massive tire issues that could leave her stranded. Service Bulletin #ITB20-003 states that the TPMS sensor can leak air constantly, leading to a flat tire. The problem comes from a faulty valve stem washer and valve nut around the sensor. If this goes unchecked, it’s possible for owners to find themselves on the side of the road, discovering that there is no spare tire. How does this type of malfunction equate “performance?”

Aside from having defective tires, owners are also struggling to rely on the advanced safety systems.
Here is a complaint left with the NHTSA. “The contact’s sibling owns a 2019 Infiniti Q60 Coupe. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the automatic emergency braking system activated independently. The contact stated that there was no other vehicle in the immediate vicinity. The vehicle was taken to [dealer] to be diagnosed, but the contact was informed that the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100.”
Aside from this complaint, Infiniti also issued a recall. NHTSA Campaign Number 19V654000 states that more than a million vehicles might be equipped with a back-up camera that doesn’t work right. Either the car is automatically braking when it shouldn’t or failing to reveal what’s behind the vehicle. Whichever one of these glitches are experienced by drivers, it poses a serious threat. For the amount of money that people spend to get behind the wheel of an Infiniti, more “luxury” and “performance” are expected. Instead, the customers should choose to save money and go with the comparable Nissan models instead, especially if they are looking for sub-par quality.
