Structure, steering and suspension issues among the top complaints received by the NHTSA from vehicle owners

Shoppers looking to get behind the wheel of a 2019 Hyundai Accent were hoping for a low-cost yet reliable car. The automaker claims that the new models are “compact, yet so complete,” but there seems to be several systems that are incomplete. The structure, steering and suspension seem to need more attention.

Underneath every car is the structure that holds it all together. No one wants to head down the street with their car falling apart, but that appears to be what’s happening.
One Cars.com review states, “The bumper kept wanting to come unsnapped in the front from the clips. The heat shield tore within a month and I live in the country there is nothing to run over.”
It turns out that Hyundai is fully aware of defects and even discusses some issues with the lighting. Service Bulletin #20-BD-014H talks about condensation building up in just about every lighting system on the car, including the fog lamps, daytime running lamp, rear combination lamp and headlamp. In fact, looking at this car from afar makes one wonder why the structure is so filled with fog. An Accent weather report would read – mostly cloudly.

Another issue seems to be related to the steering system. Because the Accent is so small, many customers thought it would be easy to control, but that’s not the case.
Read this Cars.com review. “This car is ALL over the highway. Way too hard to control if there’s even a little wind. I hate this car but I’m stuck.”
Hyundai has chosen not to discuss the steering issues of the 2019 Hyundai Accent. After all, it wouldn’t be very “complete” if the car couldn’t perform basic functions such as steering while driving. If anyone wants a solid arm workout, they might prefer driving the Accent in the wind.

Along with the steering is the suspension system, which also affects how a car rides. However, the 2019 Hyundai Accent is one model that gets a big fat F for this system.
One NHTSA complaint says, “When you make a closed turn to the right, make a strong strike on the left side of the suspension. It sounded like a loose nut in an aluminum tray. One month later in my husband driving the vehicle, made the right turning to hear the sound and made the appointment to discover that was the joint shaft bolt loose.”
Again, Hyundai is eerily quiet about any problems. What is it that Hyundai is hoping to avoid by pretending that the 2019 Hyundai Accent is in top-notch shape? It’s easy to agree that this car is compact, but everyone needs to disagree that it is “complete.” Many systems require attention to run properly, but Hyundai is nowhere to be found.
