Rules and Conditions

Lemberg Law believes in the nobility of the legal profession and wants to support students who are training to be lawyers.

The complete rules for the Lemberg Law $1,250 Law School Scholarship are below. Questions regarding the scholarship can be directed to scholarship2019@lemberglaw.org.

1. Eligibility: The Lemberg Law $1,250 Law School Scholarship is open only to university undergraduates (graduating with the Class of 2020) or current law school students who a) are U.S. citizens, DACA recipients, or are legal permanent residents; and b) will be enrolled in a full-time in a J.D., LL.M, or S.J.D. program in the U.S. during the 2020-2021 school year.

Current employees and agents of Lemberg Law and their immediate family members (defined as spouse, parents, siblings, and children) are not eligible to enter.

2. How to Enter:

Complete the application form and submit a meme, graphic, or gif aimed at engaging the public with the topic of lemon law, debt collection harassment, or overtime pay. It should include both text and graphical elements, and measure approximately 2000 pixels x 2000 pixels. Also submit a 15-word caption to accompany the meme, graphic, or gif.

Applications must be submitted by December 10, 2019 no later than 11:59 p.m. EST. No exceptions will be made for submissions sent after this deadline.

Limit one (1) application and submission per person. Responses that are obscene, pornographic, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable will be disqualified. All applications and submissions become the property of Lemberg Law and will not be returned. Lemberg Law assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, or unintelligible entries. By submitting an application and submission, you fully and unconditionally accept and agree to these official rules and the decisions of Lemberg Law, which are final and binding.

Lemberg Law is looking for students to creatively present their viewpoints on some aspect of lemon law, debt collection harassment, or overtime pay. All submissions must consist of original material.

3. Winner Selection: Winner Selection: A three-person review panel will evaluate the submissions based on originality, creativity, and quality. The winner will be notified by March 1, 2020. After we receive the winner’s proof of enrollment at their college or university, we’ll send a check to be used toward tuition and fees. The judges’ decision is final.

4. Publicity: Publicity: By submitting an application and submission, applicant (or, if a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) agrees that Lemberg Law may, without any limitation or further compensation or notice, use their name, voice and/or likeness in any and all media, worldwide, for the purpose of advertising and promoting the website, Lemberg Law, the scholarship program, or any other promotion, contest, or sweepstakes of Lemberg Law.

5. Ownership: By submitting an application and submission, applicant (or, if a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian) grants to Lemberg Law a worldwide perpetual non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, distribute and exploit the material submitted, including the worldwide copyright and any extensions, renewals, revivals, reversions and restorations thereof, for any educational, promotional, or other purpose. Applicant further agrees that Lemberg Law and its designees may edit and modify the submission and all elements of it in any and all media now known or not currently known, throughout the world in perpetuity without compensation, permission, or notification to applicant or any third party. Notwithstanding the foregoing, applicant shall be entitled to terminate the license granted to Lemberg hereunder upon written notice to Lemberg Law after a period of five years from the date applicant submits the application and submission.

6. Representation and Warranties/Indemnification: Representation and Warranties/Indemnification: Each person who enters this scholarship program represents and warrants to Lemberg Law as follows: (i) the application and submission, including any written content, are the applicant’s own original, previously unpublished, and previously unproduced work; (ii) the application and submission, including any written content, neither infringes upon nor violates the intellectual property rights or other rights of any other person or entity; (iii) the application and submission, including any written content, does not and will not violate any applicable laws, and meets the official rules set forth herein. Each applicant hereby agrees to indemnify and hold Lemberg Law harmless from and against any and all third party claims, actions, or proceedings of any kind and from any and all damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses relating to or arising out of any breach or alleged breach of any of the warranties, representations or agreements of applicant hereunder.

7. No Obligation to Use: No Obligation to Use: Lemberg Law shall have no obligation (express or implied) to use any winning submission, or to otherwise exploit a winning submission or continue the development, production, distribution, or exploitation thereof, and Lemberg Law may at any time abandon the use of the winning submission for any reason, with or without legal justification or excuse, and the scholarship prize recipients shall not be entitled to any damages or other relief by reason thereof.

8. Scholarship Prize Recipient: The name of the scholarship prize recipient and their winning submission may be posted on any or all of Lemberg Law’s websites and social media channels.
