They’re legit. Machol & Johannes is a legitimate law firm that specializes in debt collection litigation. They use skip tracing, telephone calls, and letter string to pressure consumers into paying. It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely Machol & Johannes would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. I had a judgement against me back in 2010 but I was never served and though their process server claimed to serve me. Said I had blonde hair and I’m a brunette. Anyway, I had the judgement removed from my credit because of this but apparently the city of Denver revived the judgement last year and my bank account was garnished with no notice. I got their contact info from my bank and they have my current address but they never notified me. That’s got to be illegal, right?

    Hello,
I have been paying M&J for over 6 years on a stolen credit card in my name. $16,500.00 It’s down to $9,000.00 now. They succeeded in filing a judgment against me & my home. I only pay $100.00 a month but its not my debt. Now they are not answering the phone and have not cashed my December check yet. I think they’ve been sold? I am lost on what to do. Any advice? I would appreciate it very much.

Machol & Johannes has been successful sued on Washington and Wyoming, and about to be successfully sued in Colorado. We need to do this in New Mexico, and shut them down. I have paid one lawsuit a couple years ago, have a new one I respond to the courts on today, and they have 4 more pending on my credit report. They call excessively enough that I block all robocalls, they added $900+ to the account they are currently suing me for, and they consistently block the law and zombify old debt for profit.

I agreed to a payment plan. They sent the paperwork to an old address, which I never received. Now I’m being sued by M&J for this old debt. It seems so unfair. I tried emailing them to sort it out but no response.

I have been dealing with Machol & Johannes for close to six years now.
They started out by harassing me and then the communication just stopped.
They started getting really sneaky and one after the other judgement were made. I finally bent to their requests and agreed to a payment plan.
For the last several years payments have been coming out of my account like clockwork.
I just received a declaration of garnishment from my auto financing company.
They never contacted me or reached out to me. I feel like this 100% unfair.
I am willing to pay my debts, I just wish they would communicate with me.

I never received a summons, and only found out about this company when my account was garnished without my knowledge. I contacted them directly to fins out who they were and why they garnished my account. They informed me of 2 debts I had that they were collecting on. I set up monthly payments but they garnished my account again ($10). I contacted them again, they stated that I had not filled out the paperwork and sent it in. I did in fact fill it out, and send it in but they admitted that it may have gotten lost…really?? Their website is very vague with information, as in you are unable to see account balances or payments made. And they randomly help themselves to dinging my credit score by constantly checking my credit!

The company filed in court in Weld Co Colorado. I was never notified, I never received a summons, I was never contacted by a process server. My information is on file in Weld County, so obviously the court was deceived when the company responded to whether I was notified. I was only notified when a default judgement was awarded. The Company took action to attach my bank account. I am a disabled (retired) military Vet. As such, all of my income is received from military retired pay an VA disability pension which by law cannot be garnished or attached. I did however agree to payments as the debt was incurred by ex-spouse and part of the divorce decree. The debt was completely paid and satisfied in March 2019. I didn’t receive notification from the company via the court until May. M&J did not notify the bank and has continued to take automatic payments until I provided the bank documentation on 4 June. M&J has not replied to any of my repeated inquires, they still may owe me a refund. I have never encountered an organization of this low caliber. I plan to contact the Colorado Attorney Generals Office yet again over M&J’s practices.

machol and johannes served me with a motion to revive an old debt that i believe is to old

  • Shannon L

Malcolm and Johannes keep harassing me. Served me with papers to revive a judgment that’s too old. I’m on social security. Their service processor went to all my neighbors houses although my house is clearly marked for the address.

  • Fran K

I have received 2 summons from Machol and Joannes they represent that they are the attorneys for these credit card companies. I currently live in NM these credit cards are from when I lived in Ca. I believe that Machol and Joannes have purchased these and other debts and are misrepresenting their affliation as being the lawyer for the companies. I believe they are violating the Fair Debt Collections Act by deceit. I go to court on one Aug 8th and just received the other summons this past Friday. I know they hope a person does not respond and that they win by default and then receive an order of garnishment or lien. It is far fetched to believe they could be the direct counsel of so many different companies.
