Is Credit First National Association Calling You from 667-440-1090?

If you’re receiving calls from 667-440-1090, the caller may be Credit First National Association (CFNA). CFNA issues and services private-label credit cards for many automotive retailers and service providers.

Because CFNA may be collecting its own debt, it may not always be treated as a third-party debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). However, state laws still protect consumers from harassment, deceptive statements, and excessive collection calls.

State-Specific Protections

Many states provide additional protections against unfair collection tactics:

California: Prohibits deceptive or abusive calls and generally limits contact to 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Unauthorized third-party contact is restricted.

Connecticut: Creditors cannot claim to be government officials, accuse consumers of crimes, or use calls to harass.

Florida: Bans misleading statements, repeated calls that amount to harassment, and workplace calls when employers prohibit them.

Maryland: The Maryland Consumer Debt Collection Act prohibits threatening or deceptive conduct and allows consumers to pursue damages.

Massachusetts: Limits collection calls to two calls within seven days to a personal number.

Michigan: Calls cannot occur before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. and must stop at work if the consumer objects.

Missouri: The Missouri Merchandising Practices Act prohibits deceptive or unfair conduct related to credit or debt.

North Carolina: The North Carolina Debt Collection Act bans harassment, threats, and deceptive tactics by creditors and collectors.

Pennsylvania: The Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act restricts repeated calls and deceptive collection practices.

Texas: Calls are limited to 8 a.m.–9 p.m., and workplace calls are not allowed if the employer prohibits them.[1]
