Can Accurate Collection Services Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?
It is illegal for a collections company to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. Accurate Collection Services would most likely choose not to sue if they cannot verify your debt or you may not owe said debt. In other circumstances where this is not the case, it is not uncommon for debt collection agencies to summon debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. If you find yourself in a similar situation, the wisest option would be to contact an attorney preemptively to ensure the safety of your assets and rights. Lemberg Law has helped thousands of consumers fight back against these cases of fraudulent collection practices. Call us today to find out how we can help you resolve this issue.
A complainant claims that every time he/she has visited their local hospital for the past 6 years they are always asked to verify their address and contact information. The employees at the hospital typically read what is on the computer and the complainant verbally confirms that the address listed is correct. In all of the complainant’s visits over time, not once was their address read incorrectly. It was later that the complainant randomly began to receive collections letters from Accurate Collection Services for $25 and $100 from over a year ago. The complainant did not understand where the bill came from and after contacting the hospital, found that the hospital had their address in the system with extra zeros. The complainant does not understand how Accurate Collection Services could have received his/her correct address. According to the complainant, this has also happened with other medical offices, where the bill was supposedly sent to the wrong address and somehow the collections agency received the correct address. The complainant would like to know if this is legal, and if not, whether there is any legal remedy for this issue.
