2019 Lexus NX 300 Problems and Top Complaints – Is Your Car A Lemon?

Fuel system, electrical, and steering issues among the top complaints received by the NHTSA from vehicle owners

Updated on Author: Brian Jones

When customers want a luxury-focused SUV, it makes complete sense for them to look at the 2019 Lexus NX 300. After all, the automaker claims it is “driver inspired.” However, owners suggest that there is nothing that they like about this SUV, including the fuel system, electrical system and steering.

Problems with the Fuel System

This Lexus does not have a functioning fuel system, like all cars must have.

Here is one NHTSA review that talks about the problem. “When accelerating from a complete stop (a red light or stop sign), the 2019 Lexus NX 300 sometimes struggles, and very slowly, accelerate until it reaches about 20 mph. Feels like being out of gas. After about 5-10 seconds, everything seems to be normal. This has happened about 5-6 times in the past year. It certainly isn’t normal but since it cannot be reproduced on demand, the dealer was unable to determine what the problem is.”

Actually, the automaker knows exactly what is wrong with this Lexus NX 300. NHTSA Campaign Number 20V682000 states that 1.5 million vehicles have a failing fuel pump that could cause the engine to stall completely. This is very dangerous for the occupant. Still, many people are still without the repair, leaving them driving a defective luxury car. A driver-inspired car should not be this defective.  The sputtering Lexus is convincing itself that it has the power to move instead.

Problems with the Electrical System

A vehicle’s electrical system is responsible for running just about everything, so if it fails, everyone takes notice.

Here is one Edmunds customer complaining about the system. “Infotainment menu mapping is cumbersome. You pretty much have to use the voice command…which can be slow and frustrating as well.”

It turns out that Lexus fully understands the issues related to this Lexus NX 300. Even Service Bulletin #L-TT-0281-20 talks about customers having trouble with Bluetooth connectivity. It appears that customers cannot pair their phones, often experience intermittent connectivity concerns and have trouble using some of the functions even when it is connected. However, Lexus assures customers that the problem is actually with the phone, not the system. Maybe drivers should look at getting a phone that is more “driver focused” to match the stellar craftsmanship of this Lexus.

Problems with the Steering

Another complaint has been with the handling and steering of the Lexus NX 300.

Here is one more Edmunds review to consider. “Steering is a chore at times around curves. I use less effort in my F-250 4×4’s with 33” tires than this little SUV.”

With this condition, Lexus has chosen to remain quiet. After all, the company doesn’t really want to draw any more attention to itself. Instead, the automaker is allowing customers to jump around the road like a Mexican jumping bean. What a show that must be!
