Can SRA Associates Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?

It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely SRA would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. However, debt collection agencies are known to have summoned debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. Find out if we can help you too today!

Can I file a lawsuit against SRA Associates at no charge to me?

Absolutely. Here is a brief summary of Cases Filed in Federal Court

Our research indicates that SRA Associates has been sued in numerous federal court actions. In August of 2015, plaintiff Anna Marie Drew filed suit against SRA Associates for violations of the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act. Drew alleged that SRA repeatedly called her as many as three times her day, failed to identify itself as a debt collector and failed to send written notice of her rights as required for the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. SRA Associates ultimately agreed to settle the case.

SRA Associates Calling You?

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

But here’s the rub: If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. These laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

What Our Clients are Saying

“I was almost going nuts receiving calls every afternoon from a person using profane language to push me to pay debts I don’t owe. Someone I trust referred me to Lemberg Law, and I don’t regret having contacted them. The attorneys were very kind and always available when I needed them.”

“Thank you for standing with me Lemberg Law. I was so afraid I could lose my job because of a caller who called my job number 4 hours straight back to back. He not only harassed and threatened me but also abused workmates who received the call when I wasn’t around. Since I solicited for your services, I’ve had a peace of mind, and I’m happy because of the few dollars I got as a settlement.”

SRA Associates has been calling me, trying to collect a debt from a credit card. However, the debt was from before I was declared disabled and started receiving SSDI. I informed the representative that I am disabled and on SSDI, which I know by Federal Law is protected from debt collection efforts. She continued to pressure me to pay, including suggesting I “borrow the money” from someone I know.

My disability is greatly exacerbated by stress, and I have been dealing with physical ailment from this constant pressure to pay. The amount is small (under $200), but the fact remains, I am living off of disability, which is not enough to be paying credit card debts, or I would have been paying the creditors directly. When I informed the representative multiple times that I am disabled and therefore unable to pay, she continued to pressure me… And she said she would “give me the weekend” to come up with the money, then call back on Monday. It’s Thursday evening, which means I now have 3 days to stress about the situation, which will likely end in my being extremely sick come Monday, and possibly even requiring medical intervention.

SRA Associates called my mothers house looking for me. They have my home address and telephone number. The reason I know they called her house is that she died 1/17/2019 and I was at her house trying to get the paperwork together for the executor.

Has SRA been known to garish wages or levy bank accounts?

  • Alla K

SRA started sending collection letters and started calling on behalf of Mitsubishi Motor Credit trying to collect a debt (from 5 years ago) which I never had.
