What is National Principal Group or NPG?

National Principal Group or NPG is a third-party collection agency based in Buffalo, NY. NPG has received many consumer complaints alleging serious violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) such as harassment, abusive phone calls, and threatening or taking illegal actions. If you have been contacted by NPG, understand your rights before taking action.

According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), National Principal Group, LLC is a collection agency located in Buffalo, NY. The BBB does indicate when this company was founded, but their file opened in February 2015. Alternate business names for NPG include Kenwood Services; NP; NP Group; Priority One Resolutions; Lakefront Processing Solutions; BRG; and Ashton Asset Management. The BBB has posted an Alert on NPG’s profile page indicating they have failed to respond to requests to produce proof of the licensing and bonding required to operate as a legitimate collection agency.

NPG’s website contains incomplete information and appears to be unfinished. They claim to be “dedicated to first class professional debt recovery…[and to working with] consumer debt portfolios for collection to the satisfaction of all parties involved.” Furthermore, because “the collection industry has been viewed negatively as a whole,” NPG “prides themselves on their clean track record and operating as a credible business.”

The rest of the website provides contact information; a brief list of Frequently Asked Questions that do not provide any external links or references to regulatory authorities; and an incomplete Services page that states, “Below you will find tools and services that we offer to help facilitate your need,” but does not provide any additional information.

Can you help me file a No Fee Lawsuit against National Principal Group LLC – NPG?

Absolutely. Here are some Sample Cases against National Principal Group LLC – NPG

In March 2017, a complainant indicated that an National Principal Group representative had contacted him and several of his acquaintances about a debt with PayDay Loans he knew was not valid. The complainant indicated the date of the alleged debt was from eight years prior and that he knew he had not incurred such a debt at that time. The complainant indicated that he had contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to file a claim of harassment and was notified that NPG had been under investigation and had received a lot of complaints about their attempts to collect debts originating from PayDay Loans. The complainant indicated he would also be filing complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General.

In response, National Principal Group provided verification of the debt and disputed the complainant’s claim of the loan origination date, which they claimed was in 2012, rather than 8 years prior. NPG also claimed that all collection calls—including skip tracing calls—were completed according to the provisions of the FDCPA to prevent illegal disclosure of information. NPG indicated they would cease further contact attempts.

The complainant in turn rejected NPG’s attempt to resolve the dispute, indicting that the verification letter did not provide any proof of money being transferred and took the form of a simple statement on letterhead that was impossible to verify. The complainant insisted on receiving copies of the actual loan agreement. As for the dispute regarding the date of the loan, the complainant indicated that he had not lived at the address on the letter since 2004, although National Principal Group claimed the debt was from 2008. NPG also failed to provide a phone number, address, or other contact information for the alleged creditor.

National Principal Group – NPG Calling You?

Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).

But here’s the rub: If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. These laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.
