Laboratory Services Cooperative Data Breach: Were You Affected?
Lemberg Law is investigating the recent Laboratory Services Cooperative (LSC) data breach, which may have exposed sensitive health and financial data of patients, healthcare payers, and LSC employees. If you or a dependent received lab services through LSC, your private information may be at risk.
What Happened?
On October 27, 2024, LSC detected suspicious activity on its network and promptly launched an investigation with third-party cybersecurity experts. The breach involved unauthorized access to certain parts of LSC’s systems, leading to the removal of sensitive files.
LSC completed its review in February 2025 and determined that the compromised data included both patient and employee information. The company notified federal law enforcement and has been monitoring the dark web for signs of misuse.
What Was Exposed?
The compromised data varies by individual but may include:
- Patients and Healthcare Payors:
- Name, address, phone number, and email
- Lab results and medical record numbers
- Dates of service and provider details
- Insurance information, including group or member IDs
- Billing data, including claim numbers and bank account information
- Social Security Number, driver’s license, or other government ID
Employees:
- Contact and demographic information
- Dependent or beneficiary information
Not all data fields were exposed for every person affected.
What Should You Do
If you received a notice from LSC:
- Consider enrolling in free credit and medical identity monitoring
- Monitor your bank accounts, insurance activity, and credit reports
- Consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze on your credit file
