Lemberg Law is pleased to announce that Grace Dannon of Costa Mesa, California, has been selected as the recipient of the firm’s “$1,250 Undergraduate Scholarship” for her student loan debt collection graphic. Her submitted caption read, “Just tossed your cap and already harassed? Remember you’re protected by law from collection abuse.”

Danon is currently a second year UCLA student studying Human Biology and Society, a field that connects biology, genetics, and sociology. “It’s healthcare-focused, but in a culturally significant way,” she said.

After obtaining her degree, Danon plans to work in healthcare administration in a hospital setting. “I want to have a role in expanding the accessibility of healthcare to minority groups,” she said. “I’m interest in healthcare policy and project management.”

In the meantime, Danon works as a research assistant in the university’s evolutionary psychology laboratory, a position that came on her radar after taking an anthropology class from a biological anthropologist specializing in evolutionary psychology.

Danon’s primary extracurricular focus is nutrition and fitness. She’s active in the Nutrition and Fitness club at UCLA, and writes for the online food blog, Spoon University. She works at the university’s Teaching Kitchen in a new program offered to nursing school students though the FITWELL healthy campus initiative. The Teaching Kitchen lives at the intersection of nutrition education, food insecurity, culinary skills, and community engagement.

Danon says that being awarded the Lemberg Law scholarship is “huge and unexpected,” and expressed her gratitude for the recognition. “It’ll really help me achieve my fullest academic goals,” Danon said. “I’m a first generation college student, so even having the opportunity to go to college is really important to me and my family.”
