What are Recent Recalls for Chevrolet Vehicles?

2020 Chevrolet Blazer Recall

In October 2020, Chevy recalled over 194,000 vehicles due to missing bolts for the Start/Stop Accumulator. This can result in a transmission oil leak which can “progress to a loss of propulsion.” In addition, it can potentially increase the risk of fire. The recall number is N202313440 and the NHSTA campaign number is 20V668000.

2018 Chevrolet Suburban Recall

Approximately 15,800 Chevy Suburban were recalled for issues with the locking mechanism of the rear seatbelt retractor. As a result, if the child seat is not properly secured in the event of a crash, it can increase the risk of injury. The recall was issued on 9/26/2018 and the NHTSA recall number is 18V673000.

Is My Car Covered by the Lemon Laws?

There are several ways to determine if the Lemon Law covers your vehicle. An immediate indicator that your newly purchased car might be a lemon is that it constantly needs repairs. Specifically, these indicators mean that the Lemon Law should cover your car:

  • If you’ve taken your vehicle in multiple times to repair the same problem
  • If you’ve taken your vehicle in for repair between two times (for serious safety defects) or four times (for other types of problems) in 30 days
  • If your vehicle has been out of service for 30 days

While it’s always best to act quickly if you feel your car is a lemon, cars you’ve had in your possession could still fall under the Lemon Law. Do bear in mind that this varies state to state depending on where you purchased the car.

Do you need a Lemon Law Attorney?

Yes, you’ll have a better chance of success with a lemon law lawyer. Each state has a different Lemon Law, and each state defines a lemon differently. Usually, a vehicle has to meet a laundry list of criteria to classify as a lemon. If your defective vehicle doesn’t meet these stringent standards, it’s likely that you can’t use the Lemon Law to get compensation.

However, an experienced Lemon Law attorney can often negotiate a settlement with a manufacturer even when the vehicle isn’t strictly considered a lemon. Alternately, a Lemon Law lawyer knows other laws that could apply to your case and help you to get you the compensation you deserve.
