2022 Porsche Cayman Problems and Top Complaints – Is Your Car A Lemon?

Engine & Structural issues are among the top complaints from vehicle owners

Updated on Author: Brian Jones

The 2022 Porsche Cayman brings with it a high price tag and exceptional beauty. The automaker proudly announces that it was “made for the sport of it.” However, there are some aspects that are a complete disappointment, including the defective engine and poorly-built structure.

Problems with the Engine

For the amount paid, everything about this vehicle should be top-notch, including the motor. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case, according to the latest customer complaints.

One worth reading can be found on the NHTSA website. “I received delivery of my vehicle this morning and put about 20 miles on it when I received an engine fault error and my vehicle check engine light came on while accelerating from a stop to about 15 mph before the issue occurred. I lost responsiveness and my engine was in ‘limp mode”’. This occurred in traffic and I had to safely exit the roadway before calling roadside assistance to get it towed to the dealer. ODB error codes from a shop include: 2838-P0087 Fuel rail system pressure too low – short to plus 10591-P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire detected 10592-P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected 10593-P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire detected 851CH/34076 Undocumented code.”

This driver only got to enjoy the luxury car for twenty miles before running into engine issues. Considering the magnitude of the faults, one would assume that Porsche would be talking about resolution quickly, but that’s not the case. Instead, the service bulletins only contain communication about Porsche emblems and coolant types. There’s nothing beneficial being shared with technicians, leaving customers in the dark about the motor problems. It seems that the “sport” occurring here is seeing how much drivers can be irritated before they jump ship.

Problems with the Vehicle Structure

This car shouldn’t be made like a Chevy Bolt. It costs far more than that. Yet, even the top auto publications are finding issues with the build.

U.S. News & World Report stated, “there are also a few hard plastics that leave it feeling a hair less upscale than some class rivals.”

It’s only a matter of time before these hard plastics break or chip, causing customers to worry about their investment. With this issue combined with the defective motor, it’s hard to believe that anyone is getting their money’s worth out of this sports car. At this point, it would be better to buy something for half the price; there would probably be fewer issues to deal with and money would be left over for better things.
