Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. MY 91 year old mother has received 2 collection letters for books from Bottom Line Books. She hasn’t ordered from them in years. I called NSA and they tell me the numbers from the letters don’t match. They don’t give the option to speak with anyone. Can I just ignore their attempts to collect? I feel like they are targeting her because she is elderly. I don’t want to sue them but I also don’t want to pay for something I didn’t buy.
thank you

My son has had a stalker for the past 2 years and even filed a order of protection to no avail. Two days ago he receives a letter from North Short telling him he now has a debt for a handgun magazine that he never ordered or received. I just tried calling North Shore and it said to enter the extension number found in the letter, hah, there isn’t one. So how can I talk to a live person??

I used to have a proactive account. I got their products just 1 time and I paid for it. After I used it, I had an allergy. So I stop using it and unsubscription for proactiv. They kept mailing me the letter. So I decided to cancel my proactiv account. Today I got letter from North shore agency that I owe proactiv for $69.90. I didn’t get any product. Why do I have to pay them.

I am not so interested in my personal case, but have you considered some kind of class-action suit against The Nation and their collection agency North Shore Agency? Social media is littered with complaints against these people and their ridiculous system of attempting to collect money from people who opted not to purchase or renew a subscription.

Elderly mom received diabetes books – unsoliticited or requested by her – followed up with a debt collection letter – account status “delinquent” causing her undue panic! How do these people live with themselves! Upon contacting North Shore Agency, the woman denied that the number belonged to the Agency AND requested my mother’s social security number to LOOK HER UP! YAH sure thing! I’ll get right on it! SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM – working in collusion with BOTTOM LINE BOOKS

I was sooooooo tempted to CALL THEM and held back. why ? because then they have my one and only phone number. I just received my first letter regarding a magazine called CLOSER stating i owe $92.04.
Well, exactly like what someone else posted,if I never received the publication since the expiration of a paid subscription, how do i owe them one cent ? LOL of course i responded to their letter, telling them that and more. I really thought this was a scam on par w/phone companies back when we were slammed into a scam regarding long distance carriers OR the nonsense w/a fully PAID student loan.another verified SCAM.
NEVER be intimidated by North Shore Agency some how i was blessed never to have any problems w/my credit card carriers…but geeez, that must be due to not using them for magazines,etc-i still cut money orders.
I will also add that you check to see if they are qualified to collect from YOUR residential state.
anyway, you don’t owe them you refuse to pay them.
92 bucks worth of a CLOSER magazine ? bwaaahahahahaha

I have been being harassed by NSA North Shore Agency for a bill that I have already verified several months ago does not exist.
I have told them this on many occasions but they refuse to cease collection action.
They continue to call and also send bills and in many cases they even change the amount they are trying to collect.
I can’t get anyone there to answer the phone but I have called their client and they said they have no idea why they are chasing me as they have nothing on record.
Is there something I can do to stop this?

I have not gotten the magazine and now am billed for it! legal looking form letter in the mail for $20.00 for some thing I do not read. The magazine is the Nation.

Just an FYI on the previous correspondence, we never received a bill or payment due notice or any correspondence from Star magazine concerning a past due amount. Because we don’t owe them anything. Thanks.
Judy C
We received a collection notice from North Shore Agency for a debt that we do not owe. The debt is from Star magazine according to this notice. This isn’t even possible. We received renewal notices from Star but never renewed after the last subscription ran out and we stopped receiving magazines from Star. Magazine companies don’t just keep sending subscriptions without payment or a subscription. This debt does not exist. What should we do with this notice? Thanks.

I never renewed my subscription to The Nation, either and I have received a collection letter for $39 from the North Shore Agency, as well. AS far as I know, if one does not receive a product, or service, such as a magazine, one is not liable for the cost of that good, or service. That would be especially true if one did not order, request, or otherwise indicate a willingness to purchase. What should I do, too?

Several years ago, I subscribed to the Nation abut did not review my subscription. Today I got a collection letter for $39 from North Shore Agency. It says they are contacting me because I did not respond to letters from The Nation. If I got letters from The Nation, I probably just dropped them in the recycling.
I don’t want to pay this bill but I don’t want my credit to stake a hit. What should I do?
