Can you help me file a No Fee Lawsuit against MetCredit USA?
Complaints against MetCredit USA Inc cite problems resulting from disputes about the validity of debts and the accuracy of information reported to credit reporting agencies. In February 2019, a complainant stated that she had contacted MetCredit about six months earlier by letter and “advised them that the debt they were seeking to collect was paid in full.” According to the complainant, she had “provided forms and dates of payment,” but MetCredit allegedly “refused to acknowledge her letter.” The complainant stated that about a month later, she sent a second letter “via certified mail with return receipt requested, with the same information.” MetCredit responded by letter by “saying that they checked with their client and would send verification of the debt.” However, as of the date of the complaint, the complainant had still “not received any verification of the debt.” Regardless, she claimed that MetCredit had “continued to repeatedly call her house, sometimes up to four times a day, harassing her for a paid debt.” In addition, MetCredit has continuously “listed this debt on her credit report since 2016, even after the debt was paid in full.” As a result, the complainant is “suffering from adverse credit issues.” She said she had “copies of the checks that had been cashed, showing this debt was paid” in September 2016.
In response, MetCredit stated that they had “received a letter from the consumer stating she had paid their client in full on this account.” The MetCredit representative stated that he had “checked with their client,” who informed them “that there was still an open balance on this account.” MetCredit “informed the consumer…and requested an itemized statement from their client, which MetCredit had not received …but had requested again. Upon receiving the complaint above, MetCredit again checked with their client, …who again informed MetCredit that there was still an open balance on this account of $25.00.” MetCredit stated the account had been marked “cease and desist,” so they claimed that the complainant’s accusation of harassing phone calls was untrue. MetCredit concluded their response by stating that “as a courtesy, the original creditor asked MetCredit to remove this account from the complainant’s credit file, but insisted that the balance of $25.00 still remains.”
