Can Gulf Coast Collection Bureau Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?
It is illegal for a debt collector to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. It is also unlikely GCCB would sue you for a debt you may not owe or they cannot validate. However, debt collection agencies are known to have summoned debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. Contacting an attorney BEFORE this could possibly happen would be a smart move. We’ve helped thousands of consumers fight back against unscrupulous debt collection harassers. Can you help me file a No Fee Lawsuit against Gulf Coast Collection Bureau?
Absolutely. Here is a Sample Case Filed in Federal Court
In 2014, a judge in U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, denied Gulf Coast Collection Bureau’s motion to dismiss Lee vs. Gulf Coast Collection Bureau for alleged violations of the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. According to the judge’s decision, the customer allegedly accrued hospital bills, and the hospital gave Gulf Coast Collection Bureau the debt to accumulate, together with the customer’s cell phone number. The customer supposedly asked the debt collection agency to stop calling, and delivered Gulf Coast Collection Bureau a cease and desist letter, and revoked consent to call his mobile phone. Allegedly, they still continued to call. The debt collection agency contended that there might not be a TCPA violation because the calls were made with the customer’s consent to be called from the hospital.
Gulf Coast Collection Bureau Calling You?
Federal laws protect you. The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates the behavior of collection agencies by prohibiting actions such as the use of abusive or threatening language; harassment; or the use of false or misleading information to collect a debt. The FCRA regulates how collection agencies and creditors report delinquent debts to credit reporting agencies. Additional consumer protection laws include the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA).
But here’s the rub: If you want to enforce your rights, or recover money for violations — you need to sue. These laws provide individuals like you with a means to seek monetary damages in court. For example, the FDCPA allows consumers who have been violated to recover damages of up to $1,000, plus attorney fees and court costs.

They claim I owe a medical debt from 2017 from a doctors office. All the billing went through Moffitt Cancer Center and I paid the doctors portion off. I am currently paying the rest through Access Health. Gulf Coast explained the doctors office had had some confusion with their billing and had turned it over to Gulf Coast. But as I said I was billed through Moffitt and never received any billing directly from the Doctor’s office. I am very unsure about the veracity of their records
