A complainant was threatened by a member of Beacon Services when they contacted the representative about their alleged debt. The complainant explained to the representative that they are disabled and that they filed for social security disability. The collections company claimed that the complainant was employed for the United States Postal Service and alleged that the complainant was lying, though they actually had no taxable income and no wages to garnish. According to the complainant, they, “explained to the representative that they have been disabled since July 2019 and have records proving that they are disabled”. According to the complainant, the representative continued to be argumentative and stated that the complainant, “Was going to jail and that they have to pay the balance in full”. The complainant additionally claimed that doing a settlement on the account would not be an option. When the complainant demanded that this representative’s actions were a violation of the FDCPA and asked to be transferred to a supervisor, the employee allegedly yelled at the complainant and rejected this request. The complainant is choosing to pursue legal action against this debt collection firm.
