Complaints against AmerAssist A/R Solutions commonly cite problems resulting from poor customer service and aggressive collection tactics. In January 2017, a complainant indicated she had begun receiving phone calls from IRS “regarding a bill for …her son…for his braces.” According to the complainant, the calls from YEARS were “nasty,” and the AmerAssist A/R Solutions representative she spoke with was “rude, hateful, vindictive and downright nasty when she dealt with her.” After being approached by AAARS, the complainant contacted her son’s dentist. The office manager at the dental office “told…her that…his account was handled inappropriately from the get go, hence the reason… she had been getting these phone calls.” The complainant indicated that the AAARS representative had never begun telephone conversations by stating, “‘Hello, this is a representative …with AmerAssist, and I am just calling to follow up on’” a medical bill. Instead, during phone conversations, the AAARS representative “interrupted…her several times while…she was trying to talk…, leading her to get angry.” The representative allegedly called back and asked to record the call, and the complainant told the representative that she had contacted the dental provider and told AAARS to contact them for further guidance. The complainant asked the AAARS representative not to call her back. The complainant concluded by stating that AAARS management “needs to have their staff go through customer service training, empathy training and the like,” and that if “these are the kinds of people…AAARS employs, …they should be ashamed.” She also stated that AAARS “is NOT for helping people, all they are after is the almighty dollar, and they don’t care who they hurt or destroy in the process.” She indicated she would not tolerate having her son’s chances in employment and education ruined by allowing his credit to be destroyed. The complainant indicated her intent to seek legal assistance if AAARS refused to meet with her demands.
In response, a member of MARS’s legal team indicated they had ceased collection activity on the account “and requested that the credit bureaus remove this debt from her son’s credit bureau files.” He acknowledged that the complainant was not liable for the debt but defended the actions of his representative. He also stated that AmerAssist A/R Solutions “does not condone any disrespectful or harassing language, … takes appropriate action when such conduct is suspected, and … will recommend that the representative in question is interviewed about this matter and that she undergo additional training.”

I was contacted by AmerAssist A/R Solutions about a medical debt. I agreed to make 2 payments, and specifically told them that I only authorized 2 payments.
They took the 2 payments as agreed, then the following month took another payment without authorization. I opened a dispute with my bank, and my bank refunded the money although the transaction is still technically under dispute. Now, this month they have taken another payment without authorization (emptying my bank account).
I am working with my bank to stop them, but I am never going to be able to make a payment to them again, for fear of them continuing to empty my account.
