Can Alliance Collection Agencies Sue Me or Garnish My Wages?
It is illegal for collections companies to make empty threats to sue you or garnish your wages. In the case that the company cannot verify your debt or you may not owe said debt, the collections company would most likely choose not to sue. However, Alliance Collection Agencies can still summon debtors to court and garnish wages after a default judgement. If you find yourself in this situation, it is important that you choose to sue and hire legal aid. The wisest option in this case would be to contact an attorney preemptively to ensure the safety of your assets and rights. Lemberg Law has helped thousands of consumers fight back against these cases of fraudulent collection practices. Call us today to find out how we can help you resolve this issue.
A complainant allegedly had an overdue hospital bill which was turned over to Alliance Collection Agencies. The complainant later received phone calls where there was no phone number listed, only a message which read “RESTRICTED”. There was an automated message left for the complainant, only asking whether this was the correct number for the complainant (referencing their real name) and if this information was correct, the message asked the complainant to call the collection agency’s phone number. Other than this information, no information was provided by the caller on who specifically was calling and what the reasoning for the call was. The complainant received these same phone calls twice a week until they sent in their last payment for an overdue bill. However, the calls have resumed once again, even now that the complainant is paying off the debt with a $100 fee every month. When the complainant tried to call once again to retain a payoff amount the company began asking for information like where the complainant lived. This unsettled the complainant and they refused to share this information. The complainant feels as though this collections company is using unethical collections practices.
