2021 Dodge Charger Problems and Top Complaints – Is Your Car A Lemon?

Structure and suspension issues among the top complaints received by the NHTSA from vehicle owners

The 2021 Dodge Charger looks like the epitome of what a sports car is supposed to be. Even the automaker claims it is the “definition of muscle.” However, automotive publications find a lot of fault with this high-powered model, often pointing to a shoddy structure and defective suspension.

Problems with the Structure

The 2021 Dodge Charger needs to be able to hold up under extremes, especially with its high speed capacity. However, the structure isn’t made up to most standards. While the consumers haven’t started complaining yet, it’s only a matter of time.

Edmunds stated, “V8 engines can be thirsty when driven with enthusiasm, sloping roofline impedes visibility and backseat access [and] in fit and finish, it lags some competitors.”

It turns out that building high-quality cars isn’t Dodge’s strong suit. In fact, there have been class action lawsuits with previous Charger models, including one that occurred because of defective gear shifting mechanisms. In these older models, drivers were inadvertently putting the Charger into gear instead of Park. While the design has changed with newer Chargers, the design and engineering departments of the company haven’t been altered. This means the same group of people creating dangerous rides are still producing the Charger. Owners might just need some of that “muscle” to help the tow truck driver get this defective vehicle on the back of a truck for a trip to the junkyard, where it belongs.

Problems with the Suspension

Another source of trouble that consumers will start complaining about will be the suspension and overall ride quality.

Car and Driver remarks “models rolling on the largest wheels have a harsher ride.”

Again, it’s clear that the problem lies in the design and execution. Another potential class action lawsuit talks about trouble with heating and cooling issues. It appears that the 3.6-liter Pentastar engines are creating a chemical reaction in the coolant that can lead to sludge build up within the heater core and other vital components. When this happens, the AC, defroster and heat might not work as it should. It appears Dodge wants owners to “muscle” up and deal with the extreme temperatures as part of ownership.
