Buick/GM issued a service bulletin on 05/27/2021 regarding the issue stating it’s due to the composition of the brake material. Service Bulletin No.: PIT5805B discloses the “noise will normally occur after the vehicle has been sitting for several
hours or overnight.” In addition, “The noise may be
described as a grind, growl, squeak or squeal noise.” The bulletin goes on to instruct dealers to not replace any parts or attempt any repairs at this time.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has already logged eight consumer complaints regarding this problem on the 2021 Buick Enclave in the last six months.

Many complaints state they brought their Enclave to the dealership and the dealership was unable to repair per instructions by the manufacturer, GM.

When I drive my Buick enclave after it sits for any length of time, if I apply the brakes, I have a loud grinding type sound and I notice the noise continues as I do my shopping and it does not always go away. I took this vehicle to the Buick dealership, and I was told that General Motors is aware of the problem, and they (GM) were trying to find a solution to the noise.

I have a 2021 Buick Enclave Premium purchased 01.03.2021 from Alden Buick-GMC been having problems with my brakes when I apply my brakes I have a brake noise grinding growling noise coming from the brakes. Took vehicle to dealership today 06.01.2021. Was told cause is Composition of brake material, dealers informed by GM not to replace any parts or attempt any repairs at this time. Was informed vehicle is safe to drive and GM engineering is working on a solution to this concern.

Other complaints note they feel unsafe while driving the vehicle with this issue:

Brakes started grinding at 300 miles. I have filed a complaint with dealership who did record it and advised that it was a known issue that GM is working to resolve. I now have approximately 2000 miles on the car and it continues to sound and feel like my brakes are grinding every time I apply the brakes. Occasionally, when I apply the brakes and they are making the grinding feeling – it feels as if the vehicle is not wanting to slow down and I need to apply more pressure to my brakes. This definitely would be a safety issue to the driver as well as others that are on the road.

Brakes started grinding at 1000 miles. I will filed a complaint with the dealership and hope they record it. Now I have approximately 2100 miles on the car and it continues to sound and feel like my brake pad and rotor on the right front are grinding every time I apply the brakes. On July 23 2021 an own coming 18 wheeler did not see me and made a left turn in front of me at the traffic light . I step on the brakes lightly to stop but the car made the metal to metal sound and kept moving forward. So I had to jam on the brakes to stop. All wheels slid forward immediately except the front right. I think different brake pads and rotors are needed on this vehicle. This is definitely a safety issue to all drivers as well as others that are on the road.

Lemberg Law is dedicated to holding car manufacturers accountable for automotive defects including Buick and GM. We do that by representing individual consumers in lemon law cases and by representing groups of consumers in class action lawsuits. We would welcome the opportunity to represent you.

Hello, I bought a 2021 Buick Enclave in 2021 and after a week the brakes started, called dealership service dept. and was told they were aware of it, and didn’t know when they would get the correct brakes for it. (should have been told about the brakes before I purchased it) well guess what, took a year for them to get the correct ones. The brakes are still making the same noise. Took it back to service dept. They looked it over and said nothing is wrong with the brakes.
Now the engine light is on and they said the muffler has a crack in it. So beware, I was told there is a service bulletin on it, that people were have problems with it. No recall.

I also have a 2021 enclave, Ive had it in 4 times now, the first time, they said they couldn’t hear the problem. 2nd time they replaced the brake pads. the third time they adjusted something, the 4th time, they couldn’t do anything yet, because GM is working on the issue.. I now have 13,000 miles on the car, and I’m not very happy with the GM results.. Fix the Damn thing or buy it back!! Eddie

I have a 2018 Buick Enclave and it has the same sound on the breaks my truck has 34,000 miles on it and it also has a stutter that it does when you press the breaks. I had this truck a week and one day. If this problem doesn’t get resolved I have an appointment for 3/23/2022 on my birthday, this truck is supposed to be birthday present but so far it’s not starting out good

I have a 2021 Buick Enclave that I took in last week because of grinding and squeaking in the front brakes. The dealership told me they were turning the rotors and replacing the brake pads. Unfortunately, I’m just now seeing this website.

I have a 2021 Buick Enclave. It was the owners wife’s car so it had 1500 miles on it. From the onset, it had a grinding noise from the front brakes. Per GM Bulletin, they replaced the front brake pads. Grinding noise went away and now the brakes squeak. Been in 2 time for squeaking now and per GM Bulletin, squeaking brakes, when cold, is acceptable. So the car has been in the shop 3 times for brake issues and still no resolution. Picking up the car today to see what the Service Manager has to say.
