The 2018 Cadillac CTS is considered one of GM’s legacy vehicles because it is no longer in production. However, the automaker claims that this model “changed the expectations of what a sport sedan could be.” Maybe what has changed is how electrical systems and exterior lighting is constructed since both were a complete flop on this model.

Problems with the Electrical System and Power Steering

The Cadillac sedan is meant to be a high-end luxury car, but the electrical system is leaving a lot of customers with unfulfilled desires.

Here is a Cars.com review to read. “This vehicle was delivered to me with On Star not working and still not working. It will be repaired when I get back home.”

It turns out that this vehicle also suffers from some massive defects that have caught the attention of federal authorities. NHTSA Campaign Number 19V086000 talks about how more than 26,000 vehicles are equipped with an electric power steering (EPS) assist system that fails. When this occurs, drivers have to put forth more steering effort, especially while traveling at lower speeds. This defect could increase the chance of an accident and put occupants at risk. It’s something that is sure to “change expectations,” especially since this model requires massive arm muscles to keep on the road.

Problems with the Headlights

Seeing clearly at night needs to be a priority with every design team making automobiles. Yet, this CTS struggles to illuminate the night road without causing trouble.

One NHTSA complaint says, “The Cadillac daytime running lights and headlights exceed American Medical Association Eye Safety Requirements of 3000K color temperature or less. The Cadillac lights are damaging the eyes of drivers of oncoming vehicles and of pedestrians. The glare caused by the Cadillac lights prevent drivers of oncoming vehicles from properly assessing road conditions or surroundings.”

While drivers can see the road clearly at night, the design seems to be blinding oncoming traffic, which could cause an accident. However, that’s not the only issue with the lighting design. Service Bulletin #10842001L talks about some trouble with exterior lamp condensation and the need for replacement. Nothing stands out on the road more than a sleek, luxury sedan with fogged up lights. It’s the tell-tale sign that the luxury vehicle was made to sub-par standards, equal to the cheap counterparts from the automaker.
